Cadets Support Ightenhill Park Festival
Today, cadets from Burnley, Pendle and Hyndburn came together at Ightenhill Park to support the Friends of Ightenhill Park at their annual festival.

Our cadets got stuck in, helping to run a fantastic range of stalls, including Hook a Duck, Hoop a Loop, Football Darts, drinks and snacks, and surprise prizes. They also had their own Police Cadets stand, where they promoted the scheme and shared valuable crime prevention advice with members of the public.

The festival was very well attended, helped by the lovely weather, and our cadets thoroughly enjoyed engaging with the local community while helping to raise money for a great cause.

A huge thank you to our fantastic volunteer leaders for supporting the cadets throughout the event. 👏

Lancashire Police Cadets from Burnley, Hyndburn and Pendle travelled to Liverpool for an exciting and informative visit with the Underwater Search Team.

The specialist team demonstrated their equipment and explained how they search underwater for a wide range of evidential items, as well as missing or vulnerable people. Cadets also received an important water safety talk and had the opportunity to practise using a throw line.

The group then travelled to our own Communications Room at Hutton HQ, where Communications Supervisor David showed the cadets around the department. He explained how the room is organised and gave an insight into how the Communications Room operates and supports policing across Lancashire.

It was a fantastic day, giving our cadets the opportunity to learn more about two very different specialist areas of policing. They had a brilliant time and came away with plenty of new knowledge and experiences.

A huge thank you to the Underwater Search Team and David in Communications for taking the time to speak with our cadets and make the day so informative and enjoyable. 👏👮‍♂️🚔

🚁 An exciting visit to NPAS Barton!

This morning, Lancashire Police Cadets from Burnley, Hyndburn and Pendle had the pleasure of visiting the NPAS Barton base.

The cadets learned all about the role of the police helicopter, including the specialist equipment and tactics used by the team. They also learned more about when, where and why the helicopter may be deployed to support policing operations.

The highlight for many was the opportunity to climb aboard the helicopter and get a closer look at the impressive onboard technology and equipment used by the crew.

A huge thank you to the team at Barton for taking the time to show our cadets around, answer their questions and provide such an interesting and informative visit. 🚔🚁

It was a fantastic experience and a great opportunity for our cadets to gain an insight into another specialist area of policing.

🚔 Burnley and Hyndburn Police Cadets Visit Lancashire Police Museum 🏰

On Thursday, our Burnley and Hyndburn Police Cadets enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Lancashire Police Museum at Lancaster Castle.

The cadets were given an insightful talk by one of the museum’s volunteers, who shared the fascinating history of Lancashire Constabulary’s Mounted Branch, as well as the story of the infamous Dr Buck Ruxton murders.

They then had the opportunity to explore the museum’s exhibits, test their knowledge by completing a quiz, and finish the day by taking part in an interactive Science Fair.

A huge thank you to everyone at the Lancashire Police Museum for making the visit so informative, engaging, and enjoyable. Experiences like these help bring policing history to life and inspire our cadets as they continue their journey.

🌿 Community Action at Tinkerwood 🌿

Today, cadets and leaders from the Blackburn, Hyndburn and Burnley Unit joined members of the Rotary Club of Church & Oswaldtwistle for a community gardening project at Tinkerwood in Oswaldtwistle.

The team spent the day pulling Himalayan balsam, helping to protect the local environment and improve the area for everyone to enjoy. The cadets made a fantastic impact through their hard work, teamwork and enthusiasm.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and to the Rotary Club of Church & Oswaldtwistle for working alongside us. It was a great day, and everyone had plenty of fun while making a real difference to the local community. 🌱💚

Today, cadets from Hyndburn and Burnley attended the Royal Lancashire Show in Ribchester.

Throughout the day, they engaged with visitors by helping young people try on the police dress-up kit, speaking to members of the public about Lancashire Talking, and assisting at the police vehicle, where children enjoyed sitting inside and seeing the lights and sirens in action.

It was a fantastic opportunity to meet the community, answer questions, and inspire young people while showcasing some of the work we do.

A fun-filled day was had by all! 🚔👮‍♂️👮‍♀️

Over the weekend, our East Division Police Cadets successfully completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bronze Expedition.

Over two days, our cadets navigated challenging routes across the areas of Whalley, Read, Great Harwood and Langho, all while coping with the hot weather. Throughout the expedition, they demonstrated fantastic teamwork, resilience and determination, supporting one another every step of the way.

As well as completing their navigation challenges, the cadets enjoyed cooking their own camp meals and working together to overcome every obstacle. We are delighted that they have all successfully completed the expedition and will now be awarded their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

We are incredibly proud of their commitment, dedication and positive attitude in achieving this fantastic milestone.

A huge thank you also goes to all of our volunteer leaders, whose time, encouragement and support throughout the training and over the weekend helped make this achievement possible. Your dedication to our cadets is truly appreciated.

Tonight, cadets from Hyndburn and Burnley came together with their proud parents, guardians and supporters for our annual End of Year Awards Ceremony.
It was a fantastic evening celebrating another successful year of achievements, volunteering, training, community events and personal development. A special congratulations to all those promoted to Cadet Sergeant and Cadet Inspector, who will take on their new roles and responsibilities next year.
Well done also to our award winners, including Cadet of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Leader of the Year and those receiving Long Service Awards. Each of you should be incredibly proud of what you have achieved.
Thank you to all of our cadets, leaders, parents and supporters who help make the programme such a success. Another brilliant year completed, and we look forward to seeing what next year brings!
