Our Hyndburn King’s Trust department is on the lookout for potential community projects within the Hyndburn area that need some work and support. We want to work with local non-profit organisations that support the local community. The project can be anything from painting and decorating, gardening / landscaping renovations, building projects and restoration.

The project would need to start 28th September – 8th October so consideration for shelter for any outdoor projects would be necessary. It must also support 20 students and be enough work for the duration of the dates.

If you know of any local community groups or nonprofit organisations reach out to the staff to get set up.

🚨 Rhyddings Mill – Important Community Update 🚨

The Council is working closely with Lancashire Police, Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service and other partner agencies in response to ongoing incidents of trespass, anti-social behaviour and fire-setting at Rhyddings Mill, Stonebridge Lane, Oswaldtwistle.

⚠️ The site is dangerous and poses a significant health and safety risk to anyone who enters.

🔥 Fires at the site cause air pollution, risk contamination of nearby watercourses, can affect local water supplies during emergency responses, and divert vital fire service resources away from Hyndburn and neighbouring communities.

📹 CCTV is being installed around the site and any activations will be sent directly to Lancashire Police for investigation and enforcement action.

✅ Legal action has been taken requiring the site owner to improve security and reduce the impact the site is having on the local community.

We are asking parents and guardians to speak with their children about:
• The dangers of entering the site
• The consequences of trespass, criminal damage and arson
• The impact these incidents have on local residents and emergency services

How can we help keep Lancashire safer over the next five years?

Our Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) sets out our plans for the future. Earlier this year, we asked our communities, partners and employees what matters most to them, and we've used their feedback to develop our draft plan.

As we move into the second phase of our consultation, we'd like to hear your views on the community risks we've identified and how we intend to prevent and respond to them.

Take part in the survey here: www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/LFRScrmp2

Find out more: www.lancsfirerescue.org.uk/about/consultation

(The survey takes around 5 minutes to complete and closes at 5pm on Friday 9 October 2026.)
