The weather might have changed our plans, but it certainly didn’t ruin our day! 🌧️🌊

Today we had a day out planned at Lytham St Annes, with fish & chips and some time on the beach… unfortunately, the storm had other ideas! 😂

But as we always do, we adapted, changed the plan and headed to Blackpool instead! 🙌

The fish & chips were still firmly on the menu 🍟🐟 before we headed to Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for an afternoon exploring all the weird and wonderful things on display. 👀

A fantastic day out despite the last-minute changes, with plenty of smiles and laughter along the way. Sometimes the unplanned days turn out to be some of the best! ❤️

💜🤟 Makaton Mondays at The Bridge Centre 🤟💜

We’ve recently started our new Makaton Monday sessions and we’re really excited to make these a regular part of our week.

We’ve introduced Makaton because communication is such an important part of everything we do. For some of the people we support, using speech can be difficult, especially when they’re trying to express how they feel, what they want or what they need.

Makaton gives everyone another way to communicate. 🤟 It can support speech, help people understand what is being said and, most importantly, give people another way to have their voice heard.

Our Monday sessions are all about learning together in a fun and relaxed way. We practise signs, use them throughout activities and encourage everyone to have a go — whether they already know some Makaton or are completely new to it. And we’re learning too!

We want communication to be something that everyone can access and we’re hoping that by building Makaton into our weekly routine, it will become a natural part of everyday life at The Bridge Centre.

It’s not about getting every sign perfect. It’s about giving people more ways to communicate, more opportunities to express themselves and more chances to be understood. 💙

We’re really looking forward to seeing how our Makaton Mondays develop! 🤟🥰

💜 A lovely day at Stanley Park! 🌳☀️

Today we packed up the van and headed over to Stanley Park in Blackpool for a day of fresh air, fun and enjoying the great outdoors.

There was a bit of everything — plenty of walking, a good old game of football ⚽️, our packed lunches and some quiet time sitting by the lake with a nice coffee. ☕️ We even spent some time feeding the birds, which was a lovely way to slow things down and enjoy our surroundings. 🦆

Days like today are so important. Getting out into the community, having the freedom to explore, being active, making choices and simply spending time together creates so many opportunities for the people we support.

There were lots of smiles, plenty of fresh air and some lovely little moments throughout the day 💛

Another really wholesome day at The Bridge Centre and another reminder that sometimes you don’t need anything complicated to have a fantastic time together. 🥰

💜A very wholesome Monday at The Bridge Centre 💜

It’s been one of those lovely days where we’ve done a little bit of everything! 🥰

We started the week with our usual Makaton Monday, practising our signs and having lots of fun together. 🤟

Then it was time to head out shopping for everything we need for the week ahead — lots of real-life skills, choices and independence along the way. 🛒

We also managed to get out for a lovely walk up the Coppice. It was a little wet 🌧️ but that didn’t stop us enjoying some fresh air and getting those steps in!

And finally, there were some very tasty treats coming out of our baking session today. 🧁🍪 Safe to say, they didn’t last long!

A really wholesome start to the week — lots of learning, movement, independence, laughter and, of course, a few treats along the way. 💙

☀️💜 A brilliant day out at Heaton Park! 💜☀️

Yesterday we headed off to Manchester for a community outing to Heaton Park and despite the very hot weather, everyone had such a lovely day!

We enjoyed a packed lunch in the park, had a wander around to see some of the animals and of course no summer day out would be complete without an ice cream! 🍦 We had a fantastic time getting out into the community, enjoying the surroundings and making the most of the beautiful weather.

A special HUGE thank you to our amazing staff team. It was an incredibly hot day and there was a lot to think about throughout the day — making sure everyone had plenty of sun cream, wearing their hats, keeping hydrated, taking regular breaks and finding shade whenever possible.

The staff managed it absolutely brilliantly and made sure everyone stayed safe, comfortable and able to enjoy themselves. They definitely looked like they needed a well-earned sit down when they got back though! 😂👏

We couldn’t be prouder of how the team handled the day. Another fantastic community outing and lots of happy memories made! 💜☀️🍦

🌞 Another brilliant day on our summer timetable! 🌞

Yesterday was all about choice, fun and doing what you enjoy! 💛

We all started the morning together at the centre before heading off for two different adventures.

🚌 Group 1 headed off to Blackpool with their packed lunches, enjoying a lovely walk around the area before making their way to the Pleasure Beach for an ice skating show. ⛸️✨ What a fantastic experience and definitely a great way to spend a summer’s day!

🍦 Group 2 decided that the ice skating wasn’t quite for them—and that’s absolutely fine! They headed out into the community for a lovely lunch, followed by an ice cream stop at McDonald’s (because apparently you can’t have a summer day out without an ice cream! 😂🍦), before enjoying a nice walk together.

We love being able to offer different opportunities so that the people we support can make choices based on their own interests and what they fancy doing. Whether that’s a big adventure, a show, lunch with friends or simply enjoying some time out in the community, it’s all about making sure everyone has a great day in their own way. 💙
