Unfortunately, our newest food waste collection vehicle sustained significant damage over the weekend. Sources reported that it was last seen on Little Blackburn Road on Saturday afternoon taking on the chicane of doom!

After an extensive investigation, we can confirm the incident occurred during the Accrington Soapbox Challenge and not on one of our collection rounds.

The good news is that all of our actual food waste collection vehicles remain fully operational and collections are continuing as normal.

✅ Please remember to leave your food waste caddy out by 7.30am on your usual collection day alongside your general waste or recycling.

Hyndburn Borough Council's FREE 6-week Lady Boss programme, delivered by Kind Communities CIC, is designed to help women turn their culinary skills into a successful food business.

📍 Community Solutions, Gatty Park, Accrington
🕥 Wednesdays, 10.30am to 1.30pm
📅 9 September to 14 October

Learn everything from setting up a food business and creating a business plan to food safety, allergen awareness, pricing, branding and marketing. Participants will also gain Level 2 Food Hygiene Certification, allergen awareness training, and receive additional one-to-one mentoring support throughout the programme.

Whether you're a baker, cake maker or home cook, this course could be the first step towards launching your own food business.

That damage can create heat, sparks and fires.

If you're not sure whether something contains a battery:
➡️ Check first.
➡️ Remove the battery if possible.
➡️ Recycle it safely.

Caddy liners are provided for free by Hyndburn Borough Council! You will have received your first roll alongside you caddies. Once they’ve ran out, simply tie an empty bag onto the handle of your caddy as demonstrated in the video. A fresh roll of liners will be left inside your caddy by our waste team! 🤩
