Spotted. Reported. Getting fixed.

We flagged this safety hazard to the council a couple of weeks ago, and they've now confirmed it's being fixed this week.

No elected councillors in Chertsey, but that doesn't stop us reporting the things people walk past every day.

If you spot something similar, send it our way and we'll chase it.

Walking the Wey this morning.

This river runs through Godalming, Guildford, Woking, Byfleet and Weybridge before it reaches the Thames. Thames Water discharged into it dozens of times last year at each of those points.

The company carries billions in debt, was fined £123 million last year, and is putting bills up regardless. Residents pay more, get the same river, and nobody loses their job over it.

That is the bit people in Runnymede and Weybridge actually want fixed.

Publishing an official guide telling asylum arrivals that r**e and domestic violence are crimes in the UK says everything you need to know about current border policy.

Taxpayer money shouldn't be spent lecturing people on basic human decency. It should be spent enforcing our borders and deporting illegal arrivals.

There is appointing people who are underqualified for the job, which describes most of this Cabinet. And then there is appointing a farming minister who, according to The Sun, had to be given a moment after being shown some beef. 🤦

Farmers are dealing with drought, inheritance tax on family farms and a government that thinks the answer is lentils. What they got sent was a man who couldn't get through a cold store.

You genuinely could not make it up.

You couldn’t make this up. Labour politicians get more pathetic by the day.

Making Welfare Work: Reform UK's plan

The welfare bill, excluding pensions, cost the average family over £5,600 last year. Under Labour it hits nearly £7,000 by 2031. Reform UK has published a fully costed plan to fix it.

What it delivers:

✅ £50 billion a year saved by 2030, worth £1,700 to the average family

✅ 241,000 more British nationals in work

✅ Work-capable claimants of over a year contribute 20 hours a week to their community, with training and certification provided

✅ British benefits for British citizens, saving £21 billion a year

✅ 9,000 counter-fraud officers to stop the £1 in every £12 of Universal Credit lost to fraud and error

✅ £1.85 billion a year more for therapy, physiotherapy and employment support that actually gets people well

And it protects those who genuinely need help:
🛡️ Pensioners

🛡️ The severely disabled, whose cash awards are protected

🛡️ Children already receiving disability living allowance

🛡️ Existing physical-condition claimants, exempt from reassessment for three years

If you can work, you should. If you can't, we support you. If you cheat, you get caught. That's the bargain, and only Reform will restore it.

Wonderful news from Reform led Lancashire Council! But why is it news?? Surely it is the sole priority of all councils and all national governments to completely prioritise the people they serve...??🤔🤔

🚨 Reform-led Lancashire County Council is making history. It's the first ever local authority to withdraw from the government's refugee resettlement scheme.

This move prioritises local residents over new arrivals. It ends a policy Reform UK calls "shameful".

Reform UK Home Affairs spokesman Zia Yusuf states: "These schemes have only served to prioritise recent arrivals and foreign nationals ahead of the British public." The council says it's about fairness for Lancastrians.

This is a direct challenge to the Labour government's approach to local services.

Lancashire County Council is putting British people first.
