After receiving complaints of noisy and speeding motorbikes on the A46 from residents of OVERSLEY, Alcester SNT carried out speed checks on the A46 from OVERSLEY towards STRATFORD (in both directions) this was carried out both in the morning and again later in the day.
Despite the 2 x prominent positions of the Officer, and no doubt the flashing headlights of other road users, offences were still witnessed and the offenders will be notified in due course.
We appreciate that this part of the A46 is wide and, when appropriate, a suitable place to overtake but excessive acceleration, especially coming off the OVERSLEY roundabout, is unnecessarily noisy especially from the bikes who are in convoy with their friends - Enjoy your drive/ride but please watch your speed and travel your own journey, don’t blindly follow your friends, the gap that they are aiming for might not be big enough for 2 and a lot of bikes were breaching the solid white lines at the right turn lane under the bridge.

In the interest of fairness - It’s worth noting that the worst offender on this particular sunny, Sunday 23rd August was a car and that lime green FOCUS should note that your speed can be recorded as you are accelerating away from the obvious speed camera on the bridge – hence the -83 mph.

Alcester, there’s still time to tell us what matters to you!

This summer, your voice has helped shape our patrols to target the areas that need it most.

See what we’ve done together so far:

✅ You told us that tackling antisocial behaviour (ASB) is a priority. In response, we’re carrying out patrols across the town and on the Conway Estate, which have contributed to a reduction in reports of ASB.

✅ Responding to your concerns about speeding, we’re conducting regular speed checks and working with community speed watch groups to help make our roads safer.

✅ You also told us about concerns around nuisance vehicles, so we’re targeting key areas, educating drivers about road safety and taking enforcement action where necessary.

It’s not too late to do the survey and tell us what else we need to prioritise. Are you concerned about:

- Road safety?
- Antisocial behaviour in the park?
- Or is the thought of burglary keeping you up at night?

Tell us what matters most to you (via link in comments).

This summer, in response to increased demand across the county, we’ve actively targeted areas to help make where you live safer. Your feedback is key in helping us understand what matters to you and your family.

We’re grateful to hear about how our officers have been reassuring you as you enjoy your holidays, including from this Alcester resident.

We equally want you to tell us your neighbourhood’s priorities, whether you’re concerned about antisocial behaviour in the park or the thought of burglary is keeping you up at night.
Do the two-minute survey and shape local policing (link in comments).

Were you driving along the Evesham Road in Stratford just before midday last Thursday (13 August)?

We're appealing for anyone who might have seen a red BMW being ridden along the road in company with another motorbike.

It's believed the red motorbike, which was stolen from the drive of a house, was then ridden towards Welford and stopped in a layby before Bidford. The motorcyclists are understood to have threatened passing motorists.

One of the motorcyclists was wearing a dark T-shirt and trousers with a second dressed in a dark hooded top and dark trousers.

If you saw anything or can help, contact us via the link in comments quoting incident number 174 of 13 August.

This morning, Alcester SNT linked up with Neighbourhood Watch volunteers for a crime prevention event at Waitrose car park in Alcester.

We were delighted to see such a great turnout from the local community. Attendees were able to pick up a range of useful crime prevention materials and freebies, as well as receive advice on crime prevention and how to report crime and suspicious activity.

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event. Working together helps keep our communities safe.

10/08/2026

We are aware of the ongoing anti-social behaviour (ASB) issues involving youths causing nuisance and criminal damage to residential fencing adjacent to the Marleigh Road, Bidford On Avon play area.

We have identified and spoken with a number of the youths involved and will continue to monitor the area closely. Where appropriate, further action will be taken to address any continued incidents.

We would like to reassure residents and those affected that these matters are not being ignored. We are actively pursuing all available lines of enquiry and are working proactively to address the concerns raised by the community.

While those involved may have appeared less confident when spoken to by officers, the key message is that those responsible have been identified, engagement has taken place, and we will continue to take positive action to prevent further incidents and keep the area safe for residents.
