The Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) Foundation was established in April 2015 (renamed RLC Connect in Oct 2018) with the purpose of promoting professional excellence within the RLC, with the emphasis on creating strong professional relationships with organisations from the wider logistics community from within industry, academia, professional bodies and professional media. Up until recently the RLC Foun
dation was part of the RLC Association Trust, a registered charity. After 31 years of dedicated service and driven by a change to charity law, the RLC Association Trust has successfully transferred its operations to become The RLC Charity, now established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). In parallel, the RLC Foundation, as an integral element of the new charity, has also been required to restructure and change it's title to comply with Charity Commission legal guidance. Accordingly, the current RLC Foundation Board has become the Professional Excellence Committee of the RLC Charity, with a professional membership organisation, now rebranded as RLC Connect. This transition strengthens our ability to support the RLC family, our industry partners and academia, providing a more robust and flexible framework to continue our essential work. The move to a CIO offers enhanced legal protection and efficiency, ensuring that we can focus more resources on delivering valuable support where it is needed
Its purpose is to:
* Provide a focus for the RLC'S professional engagement with external logistics organisations from Industry, Academia, Professional bodies and the professional media and facilitate engagement with them.
* Engage with professional organisations and academia to coordinate and expand existing Accreditation Certification and Educational Courses for the benefit of the RLC soldiers and officers across all RLC Trades.
* Promote exchanges of ideas, experiences and concepts between RLC soldiers and officers and the appropriate civilian/commercial organisations.
* Provide a focus for the development of thought leadership of value to both military and civilian logisticians. Method - RLC Connect activities include:
* Sponsoring, facilitating and organising events of interest to RLC soldier and officers and civilian logistics organisations. These may be large seminars, smaller, 'round-table' events with expert speakers.
* Publication of thought leadership; this may be achieved through a variety of media - The RLC Review, white papers and may include web hosted activities such as webinars.
* Sponsoring competitions aimed at stimulating professional discussion and debate.
* Organising prizes and awards that recognise military logistics and professional development excellence.
* Administering other military logistics awards on behalf of other entities which support the purpose of the RLC Connect.
