RAPTC Orienteering Championship 2026

The RAPTC Orienteering Championship 2026 was successfully conducted within the B6 Training Area, Aldershot, bringing together competitors from across the Corps to test their navigation skills, endurance and determination.

Congratulations to the defending champion, WO2 (QMSI) T Steele, who once again secured the overall championship title with an outstanding performance.

The top four finishers have now earned selection to represent the Corps at the Inter-Corps Orienteering Championship this November.

Any RAPTCI interested in participating in future orienteering events or developing their skills in the sport is encouraged to contact the RAPTC Orienteering Secretary, WO2 (QMSI) S Kerung, for further information.

OP CROSSWAYS | PTI COURSE 2026 🇬🇧🇸🇦

Under the direction of Capt (MAA) G Cooper, a team of four RAPTCIs — WO2 (QMSI) C Grose, SSgt (SSI) M Glass and Sgt (SI) D Read — deployed on Op Crossways 2026 to deliver a bespoke International PTI Course to the Royal Saudi Land Forces.

The team once again demonstrated the agility, professionalism and adaptability of the RAPTC, delivering training to an exceptionally high standard across multinational partners.

A fantastic opportunity to strengthen international relationships, share expertise, demonstrate, promote and demand the highest standards of physical training delivery.

Well done team, valuable lessons learned, connections made and the Corps reach expanded 🔴⚫️⚔️

Brigade Commanders Commendation

Congratulations to SSgt (SSI) M Gander RAPTC for being awarded a Brigade Commanders commendation. In recognition of his outstanding commitment to preparing personnel for the All Arms Pre-Parachute Selection (AAPPS), delivering support to five serials per annum.

His efforts have consistently set candidates on a path to success, delivering pass rates of up to 80% and ensuring soldiers are physically and mentally prepared for the demands of service within the Bde. His contribution directly supports readiness, operational effectiveness and the generation of high-quality Airborne personnel. His dedication, professionalism and commitment have had a tangible impact on both his Unit and the wider organisation.

Representing the Army at the Isle of Wight Marathon on Sun 04 Oct, Sgt Hadley, Sgt Rai and Sgt Morrey put their fitness, resilience and determination to the test on a challenging course.

A particularly impressive performance from Sgt Hadley, finishing 5th overall, with Sgt Rai securing 13th overall. Outstanding achievements against a strong field.

Beyond the finish line, the team engaged with the members of public representing the Royal Army Physical Training Corps and helped showcase the fitness, discipline and opportunities that a career in the Army can offer.

Corps SM Update -

Tonight I had the privilege of being in Tidworth Garrison celebrating the festival of Tihar with our soldiers and their families. Amazing food, outstanding company and having left with less money than I arrived with💪🏻

Tonight reminded me that we are drawn from the 4 corners of the globe, but we are all forged in Fox Lines, a rich tradition that ensures the standard of the person to your left or right is never in question.

I am immensely proud of our Nepalese soldier community, they are each a credit to the Corps, Defence and most importantly their family. In turn, they make our family stronger. 🔴⚫️⚔️

Racing back to Aldershot for my 0400 stint on the track with the team from Remembrance Trees, if your local, drop by 💪🏻👍🏻🏃

Army Sports Awards 2026 | Lifetime Achievement Award Winner

Congratulations to WO2 Andy Halliday MBE, one of the recipients of the Army Sports Awards 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award.

After almost 40 years of service to the Army and more than three decades dedicated to football officiating, Andy's contribution to Army Sport is truly exceptional.

From becoming a Premier League Assistant Referee and officiating at the FA Cup and Carabao Cup Finals, to being awarded an MBE for services to football, his achievements have brought immense credit to Army Football and the wider Army.

Equally significant is his commitment to developing others. Through decades of mentoring, tutoring and supporting aspiring referees, Andy has helped shape generations of match officials across the Army.

As the first inductee into the Army FA Hall of Fame, this award recognises a lifetime of service, leadership and dedication.

Congratulations Andy, and thank you for everything you have done for Army Football and Army Sport.

Last week, another Pre & Post Natal Instructor (PPNI) Course was delivered at RRU Catterick, Catterick Garrison.
 
Eight RAPTCIs successfully qualified as PPNIs, further strengthening our ability to deliver safe, specific and tailored physical training for servicewomen throughout the perinatal period.
 
This enhanced capability will support the maintenance of physical fitness during pregnancy, promote positive postnatal recovery outcomes and assist servicewomen in progressing towards a safe and effective return to single-Service fitness testing standards.
 
The course also represents another positive step towards creating a more inclusive physical training environment, ensuring that Servicewomen receive appropriate and informed support throughout pregnancy, postnatal recovery and their return to full service fitness.
 
Congratulations to all eight newly qualified PPNIs! 👏🔴⚫️⚔️👶🏼
