🔥 The recent Government alert has increased awareness of wildfire risks, which has been very important with the recent weather.

Our crews are working around the clock to keep our communities safer, and that includes our fantastic control team who take calls and help mobilise firefighters every day.

They’ve noticed a sharp spike in non-emergency 999 calls since the alert.

Please remember that 999 should only be used to report emergencies.

Where there’s a fire, visible plumes of smoke, people at risk, get to safety and call 999.

Behind every emergency response is a Fire Control team.

As firefighters continue to respond to wildfires and other incidents across the country, Fire Control teams have been working around the clock, dealing with thousands of calls and coordinating resources in extremely challenging conditions.

Their professionalism, resilience and calm decision-making help ensure help reaches those who need it most.

Phil Garrigan, NFCC Chair, said, "We also recognise the extraordinary efforts of firefighters, control teams and support staff who continue to work around the clock in extremely challenging conditions to protect life, property and the environment."

🚜 Dry crops, dust and machinery can be a dangerous combination.

Before and during harvest:

✅ Remove straw and dust build-up
✅ Check bearings and moving parts
✅ Inspect for damaged or exposed wiring
✅ Watch for signs of overheating

We know it’s a busy time of year, but a couple of regular breaks and checks can help prevent small issues becoming a major incident.

✔ Dispose of ci******es safely
✔ Avoid open fires
✔ Only BBQ in designated areas
✔ Avoid using disposable BBQs
✔ Take litter home
