Clackmannanshire Works A service helping local people who are looking to get into work or progress in employment.

Clackmannanshire Works is a local employability service designed to help people living in Clackmannanshire who are looking to get into work or progress in employment, as well as assist local businesses to develop and support local people with jobs and training. Established in 2008, Clackmannanshire Works has provided support to thousands of local people between the ages of 16 and 67 years old. They include school leavers looking for work experience or apprenticeships, unemployed adults of working age who need support to overcome a range of barriers to employment, and parents who need to increase their income either through supporting them into work or increasing their wages and/or hours. We offer one to one support from a team of trained Key Workers, who will assess where you are in the job market, where would you like to be and help plan how we can help you get there. Our Key Workers cover all areas of Clackmannanshire and will meet with you in community settings which are convenient to where you live. We also have a Job Broker who works closely with our Key Workers to help find voluntary work, work experience and paid employment with local employers and help prepare you to take up these opportunities. Together, they will give practical help supporting you to create a professional CV and help with interview techniques, communication skills and personal presentation. The support offered is tailored to meet your individual needs and also includes:

• Specialist money and benefits advice
• Basic IT skills
• Help with building confidence and self-esteem
• Access to certificated training including industry specific qualifications
• Advice on career options to suit your skills, strengths and interests
• Help with travel costs to attend training and job interviews
• Help with clothes for interview or starting a job
• Support to find affordable and flexible childcare and access to short-term financial help with childcare costs

Resonate Together is growing, and we're looking for new people to join our Board of Directors Trustees.

Founded in Alloa in 2010, we're an independent local charity with big ambitions for our community.

With the historic Carsebridge Cultural Campus now in community ownership, we're building on our heritage while developing exciting opportunities in culture, tourism, innovation, employability, enterprise and much more.

And we'd love some new people to help guide that journey.

We're particularly interested in hearing from people who live in Alloa, who bring professional experience, sound judgement, fresh perspectives and a genuine commitment to our community.

We're currently looking for:

🔹 Treasurer – with financial, accountancy or charity governance experience.

🔹 Secretary – with strong organisational and governance skills.

🔹 Board Trustees – people with strategic thinking, business experience, community knowledge or specialist expertise.

You don't need previous Board experience. What matters is a questioning mind, integrity, a willingness to learn and the commitment to help make good things happen.

Our Board meets monthly, with opportunities for development, specialist training and involvement in the wider work of Resonate Together.

This is about more than joining a Board. It's about helping an Alloa charity build its next chapter, for the benefit of our wider community.

🍂 WHAT’S ON AT THE GATE THIS OCTOBER 🍂
There’s lots happening at The Gate this October, and whether you’re looking for good food, friendly company, something new to try or just a reason to get out of the house, you’ll be very welcome. 💙
☕ Friday Café – every Friday, 10am–2pm. Enjoy our 3-course lunch for just £6, alongside our usual Gate favourites.
🎨 Craft Group – Thursdays, 10am–12pm. Try something different each week – £3 including refreshments, and no experience needed.
🍞 Soup Pot – Tuesdays, 12–1pm. Pop in for a FREE soup, sandwich and drink. No booking needed.
🎱 Breakfast Bingo – 14 & 28 October, 10–11.30am. Tea and toast followed by bingo – £3.
🥪 Lunch Bunch – 7 & 21 October, 12–1pm. A relaxed lunch and a chance to enjoy some company.
👨 Men’s Group – every Thursday, 7–9pm. A friendly social group for men aged 30+ – just come along.
🌱 Life Skills – Friday afternoons, with sessions this month covering Health & Hygiene, Basic Digital Skills, Gardening, Cooking and Sewing.
🚐 We also have Café Xtra, Bread Bin on Wheels and our weekly Fakeaway w with a new weekly route) helping to bring affordable and free food into our local communities.
🫶 NEW THIS OCTOBER – Wee Alan’s Support Space
We’re pleased to welcome Wee Alan’s Support Space to The Gate. The group will meet every Thursday from 6.30pm–9pm. If you’d like to know more about the group, please contact [email protected]
