📢 UPCOMING ROAD CLOSURE: Kirkstone Road, Ambleside (Resurfacing Works)
Following resident feedback regarding severe potholes, Westmorland and Furness Highways have confirmed that the steep section of Kirkstone Road will be resurfaced.

⚠️ Because of the steep narrow road width, a full daytime road closure is unavoidable. A request was made to do this at night, but it was turned down to protect residents from night-time noise. Given the lack of a direct alternative route, this will cause significant disruption, so please plan ahead.

🗓️ When: Provisionally Monday 12th & Tuesday 13th October
⏰ Time: 9:00 AM – 6:00PM

Marshals will try to es**rt vehicles through the site only when it is safe to do so, but passage cannot be guaranteed due to heavy machinery and hot tarmac.

🚑 Emergency Vehicles: Full access will be maintained at all times.
🏡 Care Arrangements: If you have essential care visits or medical transport scheduled, please email [email protected] as soon as possible so the highways team can explore how to assist you.

• Westbound: Kirkstone Road ➡️ The Struggle ➡️ Kirkstone Pass (A592) ➡️ Townhead Brow ➡️ Scot Brow ➡️ C5003 ➡️ Holbeck Lane ➡️ Lake Road ➡️ Wansfell Road ➡️ Rothay Road ➡️ Compston Road ➡️ Rydal Road ➡️ Smithy Brow.

• Eastbound: Smithy Road ➡️ Rydal Road ➡️ Lake Road (A591) ➡️ Holbeck Lane ➡️ C5003 ➡️ Scot Brow ➡️ Townhead Brow ➡️ Kirkstone Pass (A592) ➡️ The Struggle ➡️ Kirkstone Road.

ROAD CLOSURE- Blue Hill Road, Ambleside

Westmorland & Furness have scheduled highway resurfacing works which are due take place on Blue Hill Road, Ambleside. Works are programmed to commence on the 6th of October for 4 days.

In order to undertake the works safely, a full road closure will be in effect between 09:00 and 18:00.

The extent of the resurfacing planned is highlighted in red on the plan below.

In order to undertake the works safely, a full road closure will be in effect between 09:00 and 18:00. Access for residents and emergency services will be allowed when possible and if safe to do so.
