Crews are still in attendance at this incident and may be here for some time while they help resolve the issue.

Some local residents may experience an outage of gas to their property this morning and may smell gas in the area. Please be aware we are monitoring this closely and at this time the road has been closed to vehicles but remains open to foot traffic. Shops and businesses are open as normal.

For any disruption updates, please check with your local gas provider.

We are currently in attendance at a collision in Station Road, Tidworth.

The incident happened shortly after 9pm – no other vehicles were involved and nobody is believed to have been injured.

However, due to concerns regarding a gas main at the collision site, we have road closures in place in Station Road and Perham Down Road and houses within a 100 metre radius of the site have been evacuated whilst the scene is made safe.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of careless driving and Section 4 of the Road Traffic Act and taken to custody for questioning.

We are currently dealing with a field fire just off of Elston Lane, Shrewton.

Please can we ask any local residents to keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke in the area.

We’re aware of a rather large smoke plume affecting areas near Salisbury Plain which is likely to continue and be visible overnight.

We are liaising with SPTA and will send an emergency response if/when appropriate.

Despite our best efforts, fire is always a risk on the Defence Training Estate during hot and dry weather, as has been seen already this summer with the current fire on the Impact Area.

We monitor wildfire risk levels and take action to minimise these - and any impact on the local community - as much as possible. We have to carefully balance this with the need for crucial military training to continue.

We use a range of measures to prevent and control range fires, including grazing programmes agreed with local farmers to keep the grass short during the summer months, ammunition bans during extremely dry conditions, and fire watch schemes to ensure fires are constantly monitored.

Please support this critical military training by helping to prevent wildfires this summer. If you’re visiting SPTA, don’t light fires or use BBQs and dispose of ci******es and litter responsibly. If you see a fire, please don’t try to tackle it yourself but call 999 immediately.
