Many people don’t apply assuming they won’t be suitable, but people are often surprised by who can foster.

People of all different marital status, ages, cultures, sexualities, ethnicities and religions can foster.

The key things we require of you:
*you have a spare room which will be used solely by the foster child
*you will need to undergo a health assessment to confirm you are fit and well enough to carry out the role
*you understand the importance of supporting a child’s journey, education, growth and family connections
*training is an essential part of a fostering role
*you will be able to bounce back when a child needs you the most
*you need to be willing to commit to learning and developing the skills needed to be a reflective, empathetic foster carer who understands the impact of early life trauma
*an enhanced DBS disclosure will be carried out to confirm you are safe to work with all children
*you’ll be willing to engage in the fostering assessment process
*you understand and appreciate that it can be a very challenging role....but also such an extremely rewarding one!
