You don’t need to know anyone before you walk through the door.

That soon changes.

You’ll meet people with different jobs, different backgrounds and different reasons for joining.

You’ll train together. Learn together. Have a laugh together. And when things get tough, you’ll get through them together.

That’s one of the things you don’t really see from the outside.

You might join for your own reasons.

But the people become one of them.

[ BACK TO BASICS ]

Specialists by trade. Soldiers first.

Soldiers from 521 EOD Squadron, 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search Regiment RLC, put their core soldiering skills to the test during Exercise SATON APPLY at Catterick Garrison.

Moving through demanding urban operations serials, troops conducted blank-fire training, building clearance and close-quarter tactical drills - developing the teamwork, leadership and confidence needed to operate effectively when the pressure is on.

From Ammunition Technicians and Royal Signals specialists to Royal Engineers search teams and intelligence operators, the Regiment brings together expertise from across the Army.

Exercises like this ensure those specialist skills are backed by the soldiering fundamentals required to fight and win.

Ready. Resilient. Adaptable.

[ A NEW BANDMASTER TAKES THE LEAD 🎼 ]

The Royal Signals (Northern) Band has welcomed WO2 (Bandmaster) Chris Brown LRSM as its new Bandmaster, bringing a remarkable career in military music to the Darlington-based Army Reserve band.

From the Royal Marines Band Service to appointments with the Grenadier Guards, British Army Band Catterick and the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, Chris has performed on some of the world’s biggest stages.

His career has seen him take part in Trooping the Colour, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the National Act of Remembrance and the State Funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II - as well as playing violin with the BAFTA-winning Army Orchestra for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and King’s Coronation celebrations.

Now, his focus turns north and to developing the next generation of Army musicians.

“My service has been the thing I am most proud of, and the thing which has made me who I am today.”

Welcome to the North, WO2 Brown. 👏

Ordinary People. Uncommon Choice.

What makes a Reservist stand out isn’t their job or background.

It’s the decision to do more than the average person.

People like you make that choice every day. Quietly. Consistently.

We don’t need perfect...we need committed.

STANDARDS.

Lethality depends on more than those on the launcher. It depends on the soldiers who keep the Regiment moving, sustained and ready to fight.

Congratulations to Bombardier Clarke, who was awarded the Best Logistician prize on Ex CYPHER CYCLONE.

Whether planning, coordinating or delivering combat service support in demanding conditions, Bombardier Clarke consistently demonstrated the professionalism, initiative and technical expertise that underpin operational success.

Missiles don’t reach the launcher, vehicles don’t move and soldiers don’t remain in the fight without first-class logistics. By maintaining the highest standards throughout the exercise, Bombardier Clarke made a direct contribution to the Regiment’s lethality and operational effectiveness.

A thoroughly deserved recognition for a JNCO who sets the benchmark in trade and proves that excellence in logistics is combat power.
