The oystercatcher pair near Sand martin hide have two chicks, spotted on the island opposite that likely hatched around the weekend of 24 May.
Another pair are still sitting tight on a nest over on the island on Arun Riverlife lagoon. These islands, with their bushy plant cover, are good hiding places for the chicks.

Its wild orchid season! Our Reserve team spotted these beautiful bee orchids along pathways today. The colouring on these delicate orchids mimics a female bee, attracting male bees for pollination. The bee orchid is protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, and it is important to avoid picking its flowers to preserve this unique species.

Please do not pick any wildflowers at WWT Arundel during your visit - they are food and shelter for our insects!
