🚨 Wildfire Warning – Protect our countryside🚨
With the current hot, dry weather, the countryside is extremely vulnerable to fire. Following recent reports of wildfires and people using disposable barbecues or lighting fires at a number of sites and country parks, we are reminding everyone that this is extremely dangerous and prohibited in many countryside locations.
A single spark can quickly develop into a devastating wildfire, putting people, wildlife, homes and our precious natural habitats at risk.
✅ Please help protect our countryside:
🚭 Never discard ci******es or matches on the ground. Ensure they are fully extinguished before disposal.
🗑️ Take all litter home with you. Glass bottles and other reflective items can ignite dry vegetation.
🔥 No fires or barbecues are permitted on County Council Nature Reserves or anywhere within the New Forest National Park.
🍔 Only use barbecues in designated areas where facilities are provided, such as barbecue hearths in country parks. Always extinguish them completely after use.
🏕️ Do not light campfires in the countryside under any circumstances.
📞 If you see a fire, call 999 immediately. Do not attempt to tackle it yourself.
📍 If possible, provide a map location or What3Words reference, or use a nearby landmark such as a farm, road or pub to help emergency services locate the incident quickly.
The countryside is currently very vulnerable. Please act responsibly and help prevent a wildfire before it starts.
