Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit the Foodbank in Ashby and meet the very committed staff and volunteers. It is a credit to the team to see the quality of organisation and service they deliver. Every item donated is checked, logged and stored to aid a super efficient service to Ashby and the wider community. In saying that more volunteers are required to ensure we don’t miss an opportunity to collect the generous donation that our community offers . So if you have time to give please contact them.

I had the pleasure of attending Forest way school’s SIP celebration event in two capacities. Firstly I have been a governor at the school for a number of years and secondly as Mayor of Ashby, it was also, to recognise the incredible work of Gail who is the retiring Headteacher. It is always an humbling experience attending Forest way school as you appreciate the fantastic work every one of the staff does daily, each one of them is a legend and there is no bigger legend than Gail. Thank you

A Saturday to remember. I had the pleasure of welcoming our friends from Pithivier at a civic reception at Ivanhoe school, it also gave myself and Sandra representing Pithivier the opportunity to recognise the bi-linguistic talent of Lacy and Jake who received awards for the French prowess. Thanks all who attended including Amanda Hack our MP, then it was on to the Blackfordby open gardens event which was a big learning experience for me as a budding gardener, the welcome is always top class and the gardens, cake and tractor were off the scale. 👏👏👏 Then it was off with Wes to the Pet service at St Helens church it was again great to see so many familiar faces with their pets which included donkey’s tortoises ( I haven’t seen those for years) rabbits, # guinea pigs and a number of Wes’s bath ground friends,👏👏👏👏👏.
And finally an opportunity to deepened our friendship with Pithivier over dinner ( Elaine’s speech in French was perfect) and commit to get our sports teams to cross the channel to build the relationships with their equivalent sports club (watch this space) whether it is rugby, football, tennis, netball or Hockey.
