Lount Recycling Centre has now reopened.

It now features a new “Rehome Zone,” where residents can bring unwanted household items in good condition to be collected for reuse rather than disposed of.

Sunday-Monday 9am-5pm, Tuesday-Thursday 9am-7pm.

(IMPOSITION OF 20MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 202
THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL hereby gives notice that it proposes to make an Order under Section 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act

1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, the effect of which will be:

To introduce a 20 mph speed limit on various roads in Ashby de la Zouch town centre.

Additionally, the Order will include the roads within the existing signed 20 mph zones at Westfields and Holywell Park, so that the 20 mph restrictions for those roads are contained in the new Order.

The roads are already signed as 20 mph and no physical changes to the signs or road layout are proposed in those areas.

A copy of the proposed Order, together with a plan illustrating the proposals and an explanatory statement giving the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected during normal office hours at my offices, Room 200, County Hall, Glenfield,
Leicester LE3 8RA or at the offices of North West Leicestershire District Council at Belvoir Road, Coalville, LE67 3PD and on the Notice Board of Ashby De la Zouch Town Council.

Objections to the proposals, specifying the grounds on which they are made, should be sent in writing to the undersigned by not later than 19th September 2026, quoting reference BB/HTWMT/6222.

NN46 | Car Cruise Update

Monday evening, Sergeant Bell and PC Lang attended a residents' meeting for what is locally known as the ‘Money Hill Estate’ in Ashby to discuss the ongoing issues and concerns caused by car cruising and associated anti-social behaviour.

The meeting was well attended, with the council chamber at full capacity. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to attend and share their concerns. We were also pleased to be joined by Paul Collett, Team Leader for Community Safety at North West Leicestershire District Council, and Ward Councillor Murrae Blair-Park, whose support is greatly appreciated.

A number of key issues were discussed, and a clear action plan has been established to address anti-social behaviour and car cruising across Ashby, on a short and long term basis. We remain committed to working with our partners and local communities to address these concerns and improve the quality of life for residents.

We would like to thank those who continue to engage positively with us and help identify problem areas. However, to those involved in anti-social behaviour and unlawful car cruising activities, this is a clear message: stop now. Enforcement action will continue, and those responsible can expect robust action where offences are identified.

Together, we will continue to make Ashby a safer place for everyone.

📢 Beat Surgery Date Change
Unfortunately, our planned Beat Surgery/Local Officer Drop-In Session at Tesco, Ashby on 24/08 has had to be rescheduled.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. The event will now take place on 23/08 at 3pm.

This change is due to officers attending an important meeting regarding one of our local beat priorities, focusing on car cruising and associated issues on the A511 and Warner Road Estate.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to meeting with you on 23/08. If you have any local concerns, please come along and speak with your neighbourhood officers.

Money Hill Estate - Car Cruise and Off-Road Bikes

The NN46 Beat Team need you!

The local beat team are co-ordinating a residents meeting specifically for those who live on the Money Hill Estate to discuss on-going issues with Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) from Car Cruise and/ or Off-Road Motorbikes. The meeting will aim to provide formal updates to residents around the on-going work by the different partner agencies; and the proposed actions to try and tackle issues going forward too.

Meeting date and time: Monday 24th August 1730-1900 Hours.
Meeting location: Legion House, South Street, Ashby De-La-Zouch.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to review the plans and share their feedback. Your comments will help us continue to develop and refine the proposals going forward.

We will now take the time to carefully review and analyse all 1,377 individual comments from over 500 responses received.

The plans presented were initial concepts only. More detailed, scaled drawings will need to be prepared to show further information and design details.

A fully costed maintenance contract would need to be in place for each of the proposed projects.

The WI has submitted its own alternative vision proposal for the Market Street garden. We appreciate their input, and it will be included in the overall results.

We will share the full results including all individual comments in due course.
