October is Cyber Security Awareness Month - a great time for you to take stock of your security settings and read up on the latest scams so that you can keep yourself safe.

The National Cyber Security Centre is the definitive source for advice on keeping the criminals at bay: why not take ten minutes out this weekend to review your data and devices?

If you have your own car and have a bit of spare time, why not become a volunteer driver for our Community Car Service 🚗. The transport scheme is a lifeline for many older people in the borough.

Volunteering is flexible, fun and rewarding, but don’t just take our word for it…
"I like it that I can do as much or as little driving as I want, which means I can still go on holidays if I want to.”
"Becoming a driver has got me out and about again with a new purpose”
"Helping someone is good, but you also get so much personal reward from it too.”

Did you know, Ashford Community Lottery is now four years old and each year it raises over £12,000 for local good causes? There are more than 125 clubs, groups and charities to support, so we thought we’d start highlighting a few of these amazing organisations. To start us off, we’re shining the spotlight on Ashford and Tenterden Umbrella.

Established in 1991, it offers a welcoming sanctuary where individuals facing life's challenges can find solace, companionship and unconditional support. From its origins in post-hospital care to its present role as providers of informal social wellbeing services, Ashford and Tenterden Umbrella’s commitment to empowering individuals and strengthening community bonds remains unwavering.

If you would like to support them via the Ashford Community Lottery - or if you would like to select another local good cause - you can buy your tickets here.

Support your favourite good cause before Saturday 29th August, and you could win a £2,000 Luxury Holiday - or take the cash - in our huge end-of-summer draw!
