Kent Community Foundation has been finding, funding, and supporting some of the smallest voluntary organisations in the county since 2001. In this time, we have distributed £60m to support thousands of small charities and deserving causes where a modest sum of money can make a significant impact. We are part of a UK-wide accredited network of 47 Community Foundations who are committed to improving

the lives of local people and communities, particularly the most vulnerable, isolated, and disadvantaged by matching those who want to help, with those who need the help. Responsible for more than 95 philanthropic funds, Kent Community Foundation is unrivalled in its knowledge of local causes and assists individuals, families, and businesses, who want to help, to establish and administer their own charitable funds.

Which walker are you? 👀

As we get ready for our 25km walk this October to celebrate 25 years of Kent Community Foundation, we've realised there are a few different types of walkers in the team...

🧦 The prepared one
Socks already broken in. Layers planned for every weather scenario.

🎧 The optimist
Convinced a well-loved pair of Converse, a great playlist and positive thinking will get them through 25km.

⌚ The data tracker
Knows exactly how far is left, the incline ahead, and how many steps everyone has done.

🐶 The dog bestie
More interested in saying hello to every dog along the route than the distance.

🗺️ The short-cutter
Always searching for a "scenic alternative" and firmly believes that 25km is just a suggestion and is looking for any loophole to shave off a mile.

📸 The scenic stopper
Stops at every opportunity to admire the scenery, take a few photos, gather everyone for a group shot, and remind the team, "This is what it's all about."

If your group is looking to start, improve or expand an allotment or community growing space in Kent and Medway, the Amity Allotment Fund could help.

✅ Up to £7,500 for existing allotments and community gardens
✅ Up to £10,000 for new groups creating growing spaces

We're also hosting a free webinar on 17 September to help groups understand environmental funding opportunities and make stronger applications, with guest speaker Peter Hasted from Sunken Garden Society sharing his experience.

🌿 The team had a fantastic day visiting Abbey Physic Community Garden, a real hidden gem supporting the Faversham community!

A huge thank you to Jacqui, Suzanne, Tom, Ian, Jo and the rest of the team for such a warm welcome and wonderful hospitality.

We tried our hand at Kung Fu, got hands-on with power tools in the Men's Shed while building a bird box to take back to the office, and joined Jo for a barefoot permaculture session that gave us a fascinating insight into sustainable, self-sustaining growing practices and the importance of working with nature.

We rounded off our visit with a delicious garden-cooked vegetarian lunch, soaking up the peaceful surroundings of this very special place 💚

It was wonderful to be out and about visiting one of the many organisations we've had the privilege of supporting over the years, and seeing first-hand the difference funding makes.

Thank you again to everyone at Abbey Physic Community Garden for sharing your knowledge, passion and the incredible work you do to support people and nature 🌱

Meet Sophie, our Co-Head of Development and Kent coast resident 🌊

With three young children, long hikes are currently more dream than reality, but on 10 October Sophie will be lacing up her boots with seven other team members to tackle a 25km hike at the Kent Downs Ultra to celebrate our 25th anniversary.

Inspired by Folkestone-to-Hythe beach walks and a playlist of early-2000s indie folk, she’s stepping outside of her comfort zone to walk further than ever before to support communities across Kent and Medway.
