Kent Community Foundation

Kent Community Foundation Local grant-maker supporting charities and community groups with funding across Kent & Medway.

Kent Community Foundation has been finding, funding, and supporting some of the smallest voluntary organisations in the county since 2001. In this time, we have distributed £60m to support thousands of small charities and deserving causes where a modest sum of money can make a significant impact. We are part of a UK-wide accredited network of 47 Community Foundations who are committed to improving

the lives of local people and communities, particularly the most vulnerable, isolated, and disadvantaged by matching those who want to help, with those who need the help. Responsible for more than 95 philanthropic funds, Kent Community Foundation is unrivalled in its knowledge of local causes and assists individuals, families, and businesses, who want to help, to establish and administer their own charitable funds.

You don’t have to be a big organisation to make a real difference to your local environment.

Across Kent and Medway, small, volunteer-led groups are creating greener spaces, bringing communities together and taking action on the issues that matter most to them.

Through our environmental funding, we’ve seen how even small grants can help ideas grow...

🌟 It’s

This week we’re celebrating the small but mighty charities and community groups making a real difference across Kent and Medway 💚

Every day, grassroots organisations are supporting people, strengthening communities and stepping up when it matters most - often with limited resources, but unlimited passion.

For 25 years, we have been proud to stand alongside these grassroots organisations - helping their ideas grow into lasting impact.

Have your say on the cost of living in Kent 📣

We’re pleased to share that our Chief Executive Catherine will be chairing a Bank of England Citizens’ Forum in Dover next month - giving local voices a chance to be heard.

This round table event is an opportunity for people across Kent to share real experiences of the impact of the cost of living on personal finances and the local labour market.

Your insight will help ensure national decision-makers hear directly from communities like ours. The forum is particularly keen to reach people whose voices aren’t always heard.

💚 This Carers Week 2026 we wanted to highlight our funding for young carers.

Being a young carer can mean growing up a little too quickly, with thousands of children across Kent and Medway balancing school alongside caring for a loved one.

🎥 Watch this short film, which captures one of Imago Community's special respite days at Bowles Rocks where young carers were given the opportunity to step away from their caring responsibilities, build confidence, and simply enjoy being children!

Imago is a lifeline providing one-to-one support, respite activities and advocacy.

This work is only possible thanks to the generosity of our donors. Through a 20-year partnership with the Ivy and Jane Charitable Trust, we have been able to support young people like those you see in the film.

We’re proud to be part of that story.

If you support a young carer, this funding could really help. Find out more here👇

This week is Great Big Green Week!

Communities across the UK are coming together to take action for nature, climate and the places we call home.

We know that real change starts locally and we’re proud to support grassroots environmental projects that protect, enhance and celebrate the natural environment, and bring people together to care for their local community spaces.

🌱 Through our grants, we support projects including community gardens and green spaces, recycling and waste reduction, citizen science and nature monitoring, and environmental education and awareness.

💡 Grants of up to £6,000 are available for community projects tackling local environmental and climate challenges.

Our eight-strong team are each hiking 25km on 10 October to celebrate our 25th anniversary and raise money to support community organisations across Kent and Medway.

We’ve asked each of the team to tell us a bit more about their love of hiking. We’ll be sharing their stories in the lead-up to the big day.

Meet Nicola, our Systems Manager 👣 From hiking glaciers in Siberia to walking the North Downs with her dog, Nicola’s bringing adventure (and great podcasts!) to the team.

Find out more about Nicola’s love of hiking below 👇

Today is World Environment Day 🌍 Do you have an idea that could make a difference to your local environment? 🌱

We offer grants of up to £6,000 to support grassroots groups led by local people who care about the places they live.

Some of the most meaningful impact starts small – from shared growing spaces to reuse projects and opportunities for learning.

We’re particularly keen to support projects across Kent and Medway that focus on:

🌻 Community gardens and allotments
♻️ Reducing waste and encouraging reuse
🔍 Citizen science and protecting local nature
🎓 Building awareness and understanding of environmental issues

If your group has an annual income of under £1 million, you may be eligible for funding.
