What a way to open our first show.

On Friday we hosted over 20 WWII veterans alongside schools from across the local area - many of whom rarely get the chance to meet veterans and watch displaying aircraft up close. Seeing those two generations together, with the aircraft as the bridge between them, was something none of us will forget.

Armed Forces Day was celebrated in full force, capped by a Chinook landing on the Saturday evening.

The weekend was swelteringly hot, but everyone rose to it. The flying display was the most diverse Headcorn has ever staged - including almost a third of all airworthy Hurricanes in the country lining up together. For an aircraft that defined the summer of 1940, seeing that many in one place was a genuine privilege.

We were also joined by embassy defence attachés from several nations, including Saudi Arabia and New Zealand.

This was one of the largest airshows Headcorn has seen - and it was only year one.

A massively rewarding weekend. Thank you to everyone who made it happen - the displaying crews, the volunteers, the veterans, and everyone who came through the gate.

📣🚨CLEARED TO DISPLAY

Hispano Aviación Buchón “Yellow 10” joins the HIA26 flying programme.

Built in Spain in 1959, it is a Messerschmitt Bf 109 in all but name. The difference sits under the cowling. Where the original carried a Daimler-Benz, this one runs a Rolls-Royce Merlin.

In 1968 the airframe was painted as Yellow 10 for the film “Battle of Britain.” It flew that summer over Duxford and Spain for the cameras. The colours it wears today are the exact scheme it carried then.

Since then it has flown for “Valkyrie,” Nolan’s “Dunkirk,” and the BBC’s “SAS: Rogue Heroes.” Twice it crossed the world for Warbirds over Wanaka.

Now it comes to Kent.
