Little Acorns is a pre-school based in Furley Park Primary Academy, Ashford. We cater for children between 2 years and 5 years of age.

We offer quality care and education in a welcoming environment with a happy atmosphere in which the children can develop their full potential. We have purpose build premises, including an outdoor play area, in order to provide a secure and stimulating learning environment. Opened in 1995, we are affiliated with the Pre-School Learning Alliance and operate as a Registered Charity, owned and run by

the parents of the children who attend. We are regularly inspected by Ofsted and adhere to the National Standards for Day Care covering both the Early Years Education and Care of Pre-School children. We work within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines.

🐿 Bugs spa day- washing all the bugs with the sponges 🧽 🐞🐛
🐿️ Tea party in the garden. 🫖☕️
🐿 Exploring what sticks to the magnetic tiles.
🐿️ Lots of small world
🐿 Practicing our gross motor by throwing small balls in the umbrella ☂️ ⚽️
🐿️ Today we had Music Anne doing all about bugs. 🎶🎼

This week we have been…
🐿 Building with the wooden blocks with shaving foam and sand. 🧱
🐿️ World Bee Day on Tuesday
🐝Loose part play and leaning about bees.
🐝Making bees out of play dough with pipe cleaners and eyes. The children also loved making spiders. 🕷️
🐝 Making bee pictures with glue and tissue paper.
🐿 Lots of water play including a car wash, a range of different bottles for pouring and tipping. Also an underwater theme water play. 🚗🚘🚙🧼 🐟🐠🫧🐙🦈
🐿️ Junk modelling. The children have been busy making lots of different creations!

Have a lovely half term week. We will look forward to seeing everyone back, the week of Monday 1st June! ☀️

Our highlight of the week, was a walk to see the sheep and lambs in the field nearby. The children had the best time, discovering and talking about the world in which we live in. 🐏 🐑🐏🐑🐏🐑🐑 Some of the children saw a caterpillar too, as we noticed it on an adults fleece 🐛
This afternoon the children had a chance to make their own sheep with pencils, cotton wool and sticky eyes.

What a busy week. We have been..
🐿 Painting flowers with a range of colours and paint brushes 🌻🌸🌼🌹
🐿️ Looking at what is magnetic? 🧲
🐿 Colour sorting in the water, scooping up the teddy bears with spoons to put in the correct colour bowls. 🔴🔵🟠🟢🟡🟣🐻
🐿️ Celebrating David Attenborough’s 100th birthday. 🎉🎊🎈
🎂 By making birthday cakes in the play dough with cases and lolly pop sticks.
🎂Looking at all the different insects with magnifying glasses, and reading books about animals and insects.
🎂 Colouring in special David Attenborough pictures.
🐿 We have been making Union Jack bunting for VE Day and we have decorated the nursery with it. 🇬🇧
🐿️ Also enjoying lots of small world play this week.

The sun has been shining this week and the children have been having lots of fun outdoors 🌞 The children have been amazing at wearing their hats when going out in the sun 🧢 👒
There has been lots of imaginary play with construction, water play and ‘muddy puddles’ with animals trapped in gloop !
The children have been painting pictures of the animals from ‘Monkey Puzzle”.

We are expecting some warm weather this week.
We have sent out an email regarding sunscreen and hats ☀️
We are sure the children will want lots of water play in the warm weather so please don’t forget the spare clothes 👕👗

Welcome back everyone, it’s been a fun filled week! 😊
Our book of the term is ‘Monkey Puzzle’ we have read the story lots of times, as well as painting butterflies and drawing all the different animals from the book. 🐵📚
The role play area is now a florist. The children have absolutely loved selling the flowers and arranging them in pots and bags. 🌹💐🌸🌷🌼🌻
We have also been…
🐿️ Planting sunflowers to take home and planting flowers to decorate the play house. 🌻
🐿 Lots of water play including with lemons and different herbs today. 🍋💦💧
🐿️ Wednesday was ‘Earth Day’ so we made an Earth with coloured rice. 🌎

Easter fun filled week with lots of different activities-
🐿️ The children have done an Easter egg hunt in the garden and awarded a certificate to show how many eggs they had collected.
🐿Made Easter baskets and took them home with Easter treats. 🐣🍫
🐿 Easter sensory tray with rice and different resources.
🐿️ Making Easter eggs with the play dough and weighing them.
🐿 We made some car washes. One with the wooden blocks and one in the water tray. The children loved cleaning the cars.

We’re had lots of fun for Red Nose Day. The children wore something red to nursery. We had some great outfits. ❤️ They have made some Funny Nose Day pictures and weighed using the scales with red objects. Where we talked about heavy and light.
We’re acted out the story the ‘Whatever Next’ with a box and sieve and lots of water play activities, with this beautiful weather. ☀️
