Cllr Noel Ovenden - Wye Ward leading the way towards more social housing for Ashford.

🚧 We were delighted to be on site on Friday for the sod‑turning event at Mabledon Avenue, marking the official start of construction on 20 new low-carbon homes for Ashford.

🔋 The homes will feature EPC A-rated design, ground source heat pumps, solar panels, EV charging points and high‑performance insulation - all helping to reduce energy use and keep running costs low.

🌿 The scheme also includes ecological enhancements such as pollinator‑friendly planting, SuDS and wildlife features, helping create a greener, healthier environment for future residents.

🏡 This development will strengthen our housing stock and supports the Council’s wider plans to deliver modern, energy‑efficient homes across the borough.

We are sad to hear of the passing of Gerry Clarkson.

“Gerry was an inspiring Leader, determined and focused to do the right thing for the residents of the Borough. He led the council with confidence during a period of real challenge and change. I valued his support, his honesty and his ability to draw people together. Qualities that earned respect beyond party lines. Gerry’s “shoes” were huge.
