We are holding a ‘Spare Change’ book sale hosted by our ‘Community Champions’ group from Bothal Upper after half term. The sale will give children the opportunity to buy good-quality second-hand books by bringing in their spare change from home while raising money to help us to improve our school library.

If you have any children’s books in good condition that you would like to donate, we would greatly appreciate them. Donations can be brought into school before the sale, which will take place in school during lunchtimes on Thursday June 4 and Friday June 5. We will also open the book sale after school on Thursday June 4 for you to come in and browse with your child.

We hope the sale will give every child the chance to enjoy choosing a book to take home and keep. We look forward to receiving your donations and seeing you at the sale.

Year 3 had a wonderful time at Ashington Library last week exploring the amazing range of books available for borrowing and taking part in a lovely craft activity led by the librarians. The children absolutely loved it! 📚🎨

Nursery had an amazing hands-on adventure last week with a special ‘Rockpool School’ experience linked to our learning around the story ‘Sharing a Shell’.

Before meeting the creatures, the children learned interesting facts about each one and talked about where they live and how they survive in rockpools.

They were then given the opportunity to carefully observe and gently handle hermit crabs, starfish and sea snails.

Teacher Training Day

A reminder to parents that Bothal Academy closes for half term Thursday, May 21 as we have a Teacher Training Day on Friday May 22 - in line with WISE Academies term dates.

Reception children have been learning about the artist LS Lowry, famous for his matchstick men paintings. We created our own artwork in the same style using his five colours and oil pastels.

Parents were warmly invited into Nursery for a ‘Stay and Play’ session last week, where they enjoyed spending time learning and exploring alongside their children. The session was filled with fun activities, creativity and lots of smiles as families shared in the children’s learning experiences together.
