Yesterday, Joanna and Lynn from the Tameside In Work team attended the CGL Work, Skills and Opportunities event at Dukinfield Town Hall.
They were there to offer guidance, support and careers advice to anyone looking to build confidence, develop skills, or move closer to employment.
A big thank you to CGL for bringing partners together to support residents on their journey into work, training and wellbeing. 💼✨

Are you aged 16–24 with additional needs and looking to gain confidence, learn new skills, and get real work experience? A Supported Internship could be the perfect stepping stone from education into employment.

As part of the work that Employment & Skills do to tackle digital exclusion, we identified that Amazon Echo Dots, donated by AbilityNet, would be best used by the Visual Impairment Team, as visually impaired residents in Tameside are among those most affected by digital exclusion.
Jane Keitany, Vision Rehabilitation Specialist explained “The devices support greater independence through hands free, voice activated use — helping people manage reminders, time and dates, shopping lists, news, weather, calls, and even control lights and heating. The team has already seen how this technology reduces reliance on others and supports day to day confidence, These donated devices from AbilityNet will therefore have a meaningful, practical impact on the day to day lives of visually impaired service users.”

Huge thanks to AbilityNet for this generous donation, which will make a real, practical difference to the lives of visually impaired people in Tameside 💙

Come along to Together for Tameside – a friendly drop-in event for anyone aged 16+ who is unemployed and living in Tameside.
