We're hosting a Have A Go Day at Cudworth Fire Station (Tumbling Lane, Cudworth, S71 5SA) on Saturday 21 February from 9am to 12pm!

Come down and meet the crew and get a sense of what it means to be a firefighter. 🚒

As part of the day you can try on fire kit, wear a BA set and try your hand at hose running.

We’re looking for committed, community-minded people to join our team as On-Call Firefighters.

On-Call Firefighters live or work within a set distance of the fire station and respond to emergency calls when needed. You’ll receive full training, earn while you serve, and play a vital role in keeping your local community safe.

🔥 The Role
As an On-Call Firefighter, you will:
Respond to a wide range of emergency incidents including fires, road traffic collisions, floods, and rescues
Work as part of a close-knit, professional team
Engage with the community to promote fire safety and prevention
Maintain skills, fitness, and equipment readiness

⏱ Availability
You must live or work within the required response time of the station
Provide agreed on-call availability (this varies by station)
Be prepared to respond promptly when alerted

👩‍🚒 Who Can Apply?
You don’t need previous firefighting experience — full training is provided. We’re looking for people who:
Are reliable, motivated, and calm under pressure
Can work effectively as part of a team
Are committed to serving their local community
Meet basic fitness, medical, and eligibility requirements
We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.

🚒🔥 2025 Round Up 🔥🚒

What a year we’ve had 😀

📟 392 mobilisations in 2025 — a busy year responding to a wide range of incidents 🚒🔥🚗🏠

🤝 We’ve supported colleagues in North Yorkshire, providing standby cover at Selby and York, and assisting at Wetherby during the major incident at Fylingdales 🔥🚒

🏠 We also held numerous events at the station this year — with more exciting things to come 👀

This morning we took part in a ladder climb at the Frenchgate centre in Doncaster, alongside our colleagues from Rossington Fire Station to raise money for Movember.

It was a wet morning but we managed to raise £290.20!

Thank you to everyone that donated and supported us along the way 😀

It's that time of year. Once again Askern fire station and colleagues across south Yorkshire fire and rescue are taking part in Movember UK, raising money for men's health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and most prominently mental health and su***de prevention.

Having lost 2 colleagues and friends this year, it's a particularly meaningful year for all of us.

Please help us out if you can spare a few pounds.
