Exploitation doesn’t stop during the school holidays – in fact, risks can increase when routines change and young people may be more vulnerable.

Spending more time online, being out in the community, or away from usual support networks can create opportunities for those looking to exploit.

👉 Learn how to spot the signs and get support (link in comments).
👉 Stay aware, stay connected, and know the signs.
👉 If something doesn’t feel right, speak up.

1 in 10 adults fall victim to fraud every year. Don't be one of them.

Doorstep fraudsters often target the elderly or vulnerable, cold calling at homes and persuading them to have work done that they do not need, such as gardening, repairs to a driveway or roof.

They often offer a very low price as part of a 'special deal' which will often dramatically increase once work is underway, with work left unfinished or to a very poor standard.

Contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 if you believe you or someone you know has been targeted.

Cold water shock can affect anyone - even strong swimmers, even on hot days.

• Warm weather doesn't mean warm water - open water stays dangerously cold.
• Cold water shock causes an involuntary gasp and loss of breathing control within seconds - even for strong swimmers.
• Even confident swimmers can quickly lose strength, control, and coordination. Panic makes it worse.

It doesn't take long for things to go wrong in open water - even for strong swimmers.

Our child reporting services empower young people to remove sexual images or videos of themselves from the internet while providing safeguarding and emotional support.

Through the Report Remove tool, developed with NSPCC ’s Childline, children in the UK can make reports safely, anonymously and receive guidance throughout the process.

Beyond the UK, the Meri Trustline portal - developed with the RATI Foundation and Tech Matters - offers a safe, counsellor-led reporting route for children in India.

Did you know, if you have domestic CCTV (including video door-bells and/or dashcams) at your home, there’s a facility in the Alert database where you can tick if you have CCTV surveillance?

This information is a great tool for the Police, as not only can they send you messages about local crime, incidents, appeals, etc. but they can also see if you have registered your CCTV and get in touch with you for any suitable footage that might help their investigations.

If you think you have been a victim of romance fraud and need advice, or believe someone you know may have been, head to Buckinghamshire & Surrey Trading Standards or our website (link in comments) for sources of support.

💓🚨 Met someone new online? Criminals perpetrating romance fraud stole over £100 million from victims across the UK last year.

Spot the signs 👇

🚩 The person you are talking to expresses strong feelings for you quickly
🚩 They avoid video chats or make excuses not to meet in person
🚩 They ask a lot of personal questions about you but reveal very little about themselves
🚩 There are inconsistencies in their story
🚩 They want to move your chat to private messaging apps like WhatsApp
🚩 And tell you to keep the relationship secret from family and friends
🚩 They ask for money – for a medical or family emergency, for travel or visas or for a business or investment opportunity they say will benefit you

Protect yourself 👇

✅ Use reverse image search tools to check that the profile picture of the person you are talking to is not associated with another name
✅ Keep your conversation on the dating website or app
✅ Avoid sharing personal information or intimate pictures
✅ Never send money to someone you haven’t met in person
✅ Don’t transfer money on their behalf
✅ Or invest money on their behalf or on their advice
✅ Speak to trusted friends and family or support services like Victims First

Romance fraud is particularly harmful because it targets trust and emotional connection.

If you are concerned that the person you are talking to online might be a scammer or you have fallen victim to a romance fraud, report it to Report Fraud.

Victims First can provide emotional and practical support. Contact us on 0300 1234 148 or via live chat on our website.

Making plans for the weekend? 🌞
If you will be near rivers, lakes or the coast, take extra care around open water. Even on hot days, cold water shock can happen suddenly, so please stay cautious 🌊

If you see someone in difficulty:
📲Call 999 immediately and ask for the Fire Service
💧Encourage the person to float on their back
🏊Throw rescue equipment if available
❎Never enter the water yourself to attempt a rescue

Entering the water could put you at risk from cold water shock and strong currents. Wait for our crews to arrive, they have specialist training and equipment.

Following an increase in reports of people visiting Chinnor Quarry, including social media posts encouraging others to attend and swim, we are issuing a renewed warning to the public.

Chinnor Quarry is private property and should not be accessed under any circumstances. Entering the site is trespassing.

The quarry poses serious and potentially life-threatening risks. The water is extremely hazardous and can cause significant health issues, and the site is surrounded by steep cliff faces with unstable ground. Entering the water or climbing within the quarry can quickly lead to serious injury or worse.

We have also received reports of anti-social behaviour and parking issues in and around the quarry, causing disruption to the local community.

We are working with partners and the landowner to address these issues, and urge the public not to attend the site, enter the water, or promote it online.

Thank you to the community for your continued support in helping to keep the area safe.
