Royal Air Force Halton This is the Official page for RAF Halton, a Station of the Royal Air Force. RAF Halton is a station of No 22 (Training) Group.

The primary role of the Station is to contribute to the operational effectiveness of the Armed Forces by the timely provision of trained military and civilian personnel to the correct standard and within resource. Our biggest outputs include Basic Recruit Training and Command and Leadership Training. RAF Halton also has a number of lodger units covering a vast selection of specialities ranging from air activity to defence media operations. As such RAF Halton is home to approximately 2100 personnel from all three Services, foreign military, contractors and civilians, making Halton a truly diverse team that works together to ensure excellence in the delivery of training.

Alongside today's graduation parade, we were proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of several members of Number 792 Pearson Intake who demonstrated exceptional performance throughout their training.

From their first day at RAF Halton to today's graduation parade, Number 792 Pearson Intake has completed a challenging and rewarding journey to become part of the Royal Air Force family.

🎓 Congratulations to Number 792 Pearson Intake!

We proudly celebrated the graduation of the recruits of Number 792 Pearson Intake at RAF Halton. After completing their Initial Recruit Training, these Aviators have demonstrated resilience, commitment, teamwork, and the highest standards expected of Royal Air Force personnel.

The parade was reviewed by Air Vice-Marshal Mark Phelps OBE MA MSc RAF, Director Legal Services (RAF), who joined family, friends, and staff to mark this significant milestone in the recruits' careers.

We wish all our newly graduated Aviators every success as they move on to the next stage of their RAF journey.

RAF Halton was proud to welcome members of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme (AFPS) on 24 September 2026, a programme that provides parliamentarians with a first-hand understanding of the UK Armed Forces and Defence. This visit, being the first of the 12-month long programme offering an insight into how the Royal Air Force develops its people and delivers operational capability.
The visit included a challenging leadership task at the Aviator Training Academy and an insight into Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics from the Central Training School, showcasing the breadth of training delivered across the station and in the wider community.

AFPS Guests also met Air Recruits undertaking Initial Force Protection Training, gaining first-hand insight into the start of a Royal Air Force career, before experiencing a r***e shooting practice on the Dismounted Close Combat Trainer, one of the highlights of the day with some impressive ‘grouping’ on display.

✈️ 70 Years of Hawker Hunter XF527 at RAF Halton.

We celebrate the 70th anniversary of Hawker Hunter XF527 entering Royal Air Force service on 27 September 1956.

An icon of British aviation, the Hawker Hunter was renowned for its performance, elegance, and reliability, serving as one of the RAF's most successful jet fighters. For generations, the distinctive silhouette of XF527 has stood as a reminder of the RAF's proud heritage and enduring commitment to air power.

Since 1981, XF527 has proudly served as a gate guardian at RAF Halton, welcoming serving personnel, veterans, apprentices, families, and visitors to the Station. For over four decades, it has remained a visible link between RAF Halton's rich past and its role in developing the next generation of aviators and air-minded professionals.

As we mark 70 years since this remarkable aircraft entered service, we reflect on the history, innovation, and people it represents. From the jet age of the 1950s to its place at the heart of RAF Halton today, XF527 continues to inspire all who pass beneath its wings.

Remembering a Shared Heritage🇬🇧🇵🇱

RAF Halton and the RAF Halton Apprentices Association were honoured to host the rededication service of the Polish Memorial, commemorating the courage, sacrifice and enduring legacy of the Polish servicemen and women who stood alongside Allied forces during the Second World War.

The memorial stands on the site where the Polish flag was raised daily by Polish Aircraft Apprentices between 1943 and 1947, serving as a lasting reminder of the strong historical bonds between Poland and the United Kingdom.

We were privileged to welcome Mr Marian Słomka, aged 101 and the last surviving Polish Apprentice. His presence provided a powerful and moving link to this important chapter of RAF Halton's history.

Guests were also joined by Air Vice-Marshal (Retired) Nick Kurth CBE, Vice Patron of the RAF Halton Apprentices Association, alongside serving personnel, veterans, members of the Polish community, and local residents.

The service reinforced the enduring friendship between our two nations and ensured that the contributions and sacrifices of those who came before us continue to be remembered and honoured.

Today, family, friends, staff and distinguished guests gathered at the Aviator Training Academy, RAF Halton, to celebrate the graduation of No. 791 Douglas Intake.

After successfully completing their Initial Training, these graduates now take their place as members of the Royal Air Force, ready to begin the next stage of their careers in service to the nation. The graduation parade was reviewed by Air Commodore Alun Roberts, Head of Air Mobility, Air Capability.

We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved through dedication, resilience and teamwork.

Congratulations to each and every graduate. Your RAF journey is only just beginning.

✈️Battle of Britain Sunset Ceremony at RAF Halton✈️

RAF Halton to commemorates the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of those who fought in the Battle of Britain.

The Battle of Britain Sunset Ceremony provided a poignant opportunity to reflect on the bravery of "The Few" whose determination and resilience helped secure the freedom we enjoy today.

A highlight of the ceremony was the appearance of a Spitfire Mk XVI from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, whose distinctive sound and graceful flypast served as a powerful reminder of the aircraft and aircrew who played such a vital role during the summer and autumn of 1940. The sight of this iconic aircraft overhead added a memorable and moving tribute to the occasion.

As the sun set, attendees joined together in remembrance, honouring all those who served during the Battle of Britain and recognising the lasting significance of their contribution to the defence of the United Kingdom.

RAF Halton remains proud to uphold this important tradition, ensuring that the courage, commitment and sacrifice of a generation are never forgotten.

🏅RAF Halton Long Service Recognition Day🏅

RAF Halton proudly celebrated its inaugural Recognition Day, honouring members of our military, civilian and contractor workforce who have dedicated 20 years or more of service to the Station and wider defence community.

Hosted at the Halton Combined Mess, the event recognised the exceptional commitment, professionalism and loyalty of those whose contributions have helped shape RAF Halton over many years. Each recipient was presented with the Station Commander's Coin as a personal token of appreciation for their outstanding service.

We were honoured to welcome distinguished guests including Lady Howe, Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, and Mayor Sherrilyn Bateman of Aylesbury Council, whose attendance highlighted the strong relationship between RAF Halton and the local community.

The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the collective achievements of our people and to thank those who have devoted decades of service in support of the Royal Air Force, our learners, and the wider Halton community.

To all those recognised today, thank you for your dedication, resilience and unwavering commitment. Your service has left a lasting legacy, and RAF Halton is stronger because of your contributions. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. 👏
