Marsh marigolds brightening the water’s edge this spring.

A native UK wildflower that thrives in damp meadows and ponds, providing early nectar for pollinators. 🌼

Delicate and quietly extraordinary 🌸

Snake’s head fritillaries gently swaying in the spring breeze at the burial meadow yesterday. These wildflowers thrive in traditional meadows, where the grass is left to grow and given space to flourish.

This is a Pasqueflower or Meadow Anemone spotted by Daphne who along with her family, were planting a Rowan Memorial Tree today in memory of her husband. According to legend, the Pasqueflower springs from the blood of Vikings and grows upon their graves so very apt it should be growing at our Burial Meadow. It is classed as vulnerable under the Great Britain Vascular Red List and is also regarded as an important plant in conservation of biodiversity, so we will be looking after it 🌺

Happy Mother’s Day 🌼

Today, we’re thinking of the mothers who guide us, support us and shape who we become.

For many, their love continues to be felt in small everyday moments, a favourite recipe, a familiar saying, or a place that brings back memories.

For those who wish to spend some quiet time remembering, our burial ground is always open during daylight hours for visits, reflection and peaceful walks.

Whether you’re celebrating together or remembering someone special, we wish you a peaceful Mother’s Day.

At Aylesbury Vale Natural Burial Meadow, we aim to keep the landscape as natural and peaceful as possible. For this reason, we do not place traditional headstones or plaques on individual graves.

Instead, families have the option to dedicate a memorial plaque within our memorial panel. These spaces provide a place to remember loved ones while allowing the surrounding meadow and wildlife to flourish naturally.

For many visitors, these memorial areas offer a quiet place to pause, reflect, and feel connected, while helping preserve the gentle, natural beauty of the grounds.

Memorials come in many forms, and each one holds its own special meaning 🤍
