I went to a well-attended screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing, organised by and hosted at St. Mary & All Saints' Church on Tuesday.
The UK faces a growing climate and nature emergency that impacts us all. Yet most people have never been fully briefed on what it means for our lives, our economy and our future. The film from the National Emergency Briefing sets out the risks facing the nation – and the credible, positive responses available – in a clear and accessible account.
The purpose of the Briefing is to support informed democratic discussion and ensure that national and local decision-makers, alongside the public, share a common understanding of the scale and urgency of the challenge. Some of my fellow councilors attended the screening.
Following the screening, residents were invited to join the call for a televised screening of the emergency briefing so that everyone can be informed about the risks and the action that needs to be taken urgently.
