Around 1 in 5 people in the UK may benefit from a different reading format, whether thatโ€™s due to dyslexia, ADHD, visual impairment, or simply tired eyes.

Launched today 'Read Your Way' is a new campaign from Ulverscroft which explores how large print can transform reading for far more people than you might expect.

Norfolk Library and Information Service have a wide selection of large print titles across all genres and reading tastes.

Simply pick up a large print title from us, read it and notice if it changes your reading experience. Take a short survey on their website and you could win a book a month for a year!

Volunteers' Week

We wanted to say the very biggest of ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ธ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚'s
to our amazing volunteers as we celebrate

We simply couldn't offer the events we do without all of the support we receive from them, their time, their skills and their care are incredible.

Libraries are about books of course, but more than that they are about the people that work in them and those who use them.

England, late 1930s, and Alice Wright - restless, stifled - makes an impulsive decision to marry wealthy American Bennett van Cleve and leave her home and family behind. โœจ

But stuffy, disapproving Baileyville, Kentucky, where her husband favours work over his wife, and is dominated by his overbearing father, is not the adventure - or the escape - that she hoped for. โœจ

That is, until she meets Margery O'Hare - daughter of a notorious felon and a troublesome woman the town wishes to forget. Margery's on a mission to spread the wonder of books and reading to the poor and lost - and she needs Alice's help. โœจ

Trekking alone under big open skies, through wild mountain forests, Alice, Margery and their fellow sisters of the trail discover freedom, friendship - and a life to call their own. โœจ

Thank you Maria R Penguin Books and The Reading Agency for another fantastic display.

London, 1941.

When Mary meets a glamorous stranger named Elizabeth she realises their lives couldn't be more different. Elizbeth is beautiful and charming, about to set off on a dazzling adventure to Ireland where she's inherited a grand house. Mary, shy and meek, has nothing to look forward to but the dreary life of a maid in Hampstead. ๐Ÿงน

But when an air raid forces them to take shelter underground Mary's life is suddenly changed forever. After waking up in hospital, injured but alive, the nurse mistakes her for Elizabeth and hands over her suitcase with Elizabeth's money and tickets to Ireland inside. ๐Ÿ‘›

๐ŸŒฟ Starting today ๐ŸŒฟ

Make, Grow + Mend Aylsham: Plant Potters!

We are delighted that will be joining us in the Library today as they begin these free monthly sessions.

The series of events will involve walking outside to discover and identify plants growing in different areas of the town centre. You might discover small plots and patches of green space that would appreciate some care.

๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š ๐ŸŒฟ

After pottering around the town, you will return to the Library to research and explore the properties, stories, histories and folklore of the plants you have encountered.

Together the group will produce a digital โ€˜Plant Story Mapโ€™, which will grow and develop during the year, as you discover and sow more plants across the town.

๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š ๐ŸŒฟ

The group is for people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds โ€“ the only requirement is that youโ€™re interested in plants, creativity, community, drinking tea or coffee, or having a chat!

While these sessions are aimed at adults, under-18s are very welcome, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Refreshments will be provided.

If you have any other questions about the sessions please email the organisers at [email protected]
