Last week Councillors Cavana, Townson and Ramsay attended the remembrance service for the 110th anniversary of the Somme.

It was an excellent service with many people in attendance.

Labour Councillors have stood firmly against the introduction of any additional charges on garden waste in South Ayrshire and still remain opposed to this extra cost on working families.

Whilst it is welcome to see the burden of these costs reduced for some members of our communities this garden tax should be taken off the table in its full form.

With the weather looking good this weekend, many people will be heading to Ayrshire’s beaches.

Please enjoy them responsibly. Look after each other, respect local communities, take your litter home, and help keep our coastline safe and welcoming for everyone.

A big thank you to all the partners involved in for the work they will do over the summer.

Whilst we as a group were saddened to see Duncan Townson Labour and Councillor Cameron Ramsay have their motion fall we are grateful to have support from colleagues at last Thursdays full council meeting.

We will continue to support the diving club where we can and its members who have shown they are willing to fight this decision from the current administration.

A huge thank you to every councillor who voted in favour of hearing the motion on Thursday. The final vote was split 13 FOR and 13 AGAINST, with a two thirds majority required for the motion to proceed.

While we are deeply disappointed that the motion was not heard, we are incredibly grateful to the councillors who supported transparency and for the opportunity for the community to be listened to. Your support showed that there are elected members willing to stand up for sport, young people and the future of diving in the west of Scotland.
