Junior Environmental Volunteering

South Ayrshire Council Ranger Service are offering the opportunity for young persons aged between 13-18 to learn new, or develop existing, skills in practical outdoor work. These sessions will introduce essential environmental conservation skills like basic bushcraft, use of manual hand tools and invasive non-native species control. The program will run on a fortnightly basis (every second Saturday) and from 10am-12pm.

"The Outdoor Partnership, Ayrshire and Troon RNLI Water Safety Team RNLI Troon Lifeboat are excited to launch two fantastic coastal safety learning programmes this summer.

The WIND & WAVES programme incorporates the official launch of “Swim Safe Ayrshire” at Barassie Beach, Troon.
The Swim Safe Ayrshire programme teaches children how to identify safe places to swim, how to float and what to do if they or someone else gets into difficulty in the water.
Young people aged 7-14 will learn about wind direction, the effects of onshore and offshore winds, tides, currents, inflatables and waves through fun, practical activities including onshore kite flying, from KitesurfScotland along with practical water safety learning outcomes as well as bodyboarding or SUP boarding session. Swim Safe sessions are delivered by Adventure Carrick and supported with funding from The Outdoor Partnership "Summer of Sport" , South Ayrshire Locality Planning Partnership and Troon Water Sports Hub. Wetsuits are provided.
