Our Town Centre Programme has been named a finalist at the APSE Awards. 🙌🏼

We're passionate about helping people build confidence, gain new skills, and move closer to their employment goals. Being recognised as a finalist is a wonderful acknowledgement of the dedication of our team and the achievements of the participants we work with every day.

Big thank you to our Town Centre Supervisors Jamie & Billy as none of this would be possible without them! 🌟

🌟 Success Story: Diane 🌟

As we mark Scottish Employability Day tomorrow, we're delighted to celebrate Diane's inspiring employability journey and success. 🤩

Diane has shown incredible dedication and determination throughout her journey. Through participating in both Employability and Community Learning & Development groups, including Interview Skills, Cooking Groups, Women's Groups, First Aid and REHIS training, she built her confidence and developed valuable new skills.

Diane then completed our Thriving Communities Pathways for Adults Volunteering in Education Programme, gaining an accredited Preparation for Employment qualification and valuable work experience within a local primary school. While she initially hoped to pursue a clerical role, her placement gave her the opportunity to experience classroom assistant duties, which she quickly discovered she loved.

Following completion of the programme, Diane continued volunteering at the school and after a successful interview, has now secured paid employment with South Ayrshire Council as a Classroom Assistant.

💬 Diane said:

"The help and support I received has enabled me to achieve new skills and become all I wanted to be by taking up new opportunities and participating in group learning, gaining skills that will be required now and in the future. Thank you to all for the assistance and support I have been given!"

🍂 Town Centre Clean Up - Maybole 🍂

A huge well done to Lyle and Logan from the Maybole Town Centre team, who put in a fantastic effort clearing fallen leaves, litter and soil from pavements along Culzean Road leading to the train station and Carrick Centre.

Using leaf blowers, brushes and shovels, they removed an impressive 25 bags of debris, helping to reduce slip hazards for pedestrians and prevent blocked drains, which have caused issues in the past. Residents were quick to thank the team as they worked, recognising the positive difference their efforts make to the local area.

The Town Centre Programme, delivered through Thriving Communities Employability, not only supports improvements to our town centres but also helps participants build confidence, develop a positive routine and structure, and learn valuable new skills while contributing to their community.

Lyle and Logan may be a little camera shy, but the photos speak for themselves and show just how much was achieved in a single day.

👏 A big thank you to both for their hard work, dedication and commitment to making Maybole a safer, cleaner and more welcoming place for everyone.

🌟 Success Story: Ryan's Journey to Employment 🌟

Living in a rural community and struggling with anxiety and low confidence, Ryan faced significant barriers to employment.

Through support from Thriving Communities Employability, Ryan was able to build confidence, develop new skills, and take positive steps towards a brighter future. With the support of his Officer Robin he explored employment options, identified achievable goals, and secured funding through the Transition Fund to support driving lessons and test, helping to overcome transport barriers.

Ryan embraced every opportunity available, completing a six-week Outdoor Activity Group and gaining qualifications including:

✅ John Muir Award
✅ National Navigation Award
✅ Paddle Start
✅ First Aid Certification

He also passed his driving test first time! 🚗👏

Most recently, Ryan secured a Tailored Job Opportunity with South Ayrshire Council, Dolphin House Outdoor Education Centre. After demonstrating commitment and a positive attitude during a six-week programme, he progressed from work experience into paid employment, securing 25 hours of employment per week.

This achievement has increased Ryan's confidence, independence, financial security, and opened exciting future career opportunities.

Ryan said: 💬 "For a long time, my anxiety stopped me from moving forward, but attending therapy and receiving support from Thriving Communities I have learned ways to manage it. I feel more confident now and ready to take the next step towards employment and building a future for myself."
