MAKE WAY - IT’S BIN DAY!

🚛 Each of our general waste and recycling collection vehicles visits more than 2,000 properties every collection day.

With so many streets and back streets to navigate, we need your help to keep them accessible.

🚗 Please park considerately so our collection vehicles can safely access streets and back streets.

Where access is blocked, our crews cannot move bins to and from the vehicle, which means bins may not be emptied.

⚠️ Remember: if our collection vehicle cannot drive down your street, neither can an emergency services vehicle.

Thank you for helping our crews access every street on collection day.

Forgotten to tie your last food caddy liner to your outdoor caddy?

If you forgot to tie your last liner to your outdoor food caddy on collection day, the Collection Crew won’t know that you need a new roll.

Instead, you can now collect a free roll of food caddy liners from one of our collection points in Haslingden, Bacup, Rawtenstall, Crawshawbooth or Whitworth.

NEW FOOD CADDY LINER COLLECTION POINTS IN HASLINGDEN & BACUP!

We're pleased to announce three new collection points, giving residents even more places to collect a free roll of food caddy liners.

HOW DO I COLLECT A ROLL?

Simply ask a member of staff at reception at your nearest collection point and they will provide you with one free roll of food caddy liners.

You don't need to contact the Council before visiting a collection point.

PLEASE NOTE:
• One free roll is available per household per visit.
• Food caddy liners are free for Rossendale residents only.
• Liners are not available for commercial or trade use.
• Liners are subject to availability at each collection point.
• Please check the venue's opening times before visiting.
• If your nearest collection point has temporarily run out, please try another location.

♻️ REMEMBER:
When you have used your last liner, tie it to your outdoor food waste caddy on collection day. This lets the Collection Crew know that you need another roll, and they will leave one with your caddy.

Have you spotted our new refuse collection vehicle around Rossendale this week?

The vehicle is designed to collect refuse or recycling and food waste on the same collection round, using separate compartments to keep each waste stream separate.

So, if you see this vehicle on your street, there’s no need to be concerned – your recycling and food waste are not being mixed together. The vehicle’s separate compartments allow our collection crews to keep the different waste streams separate throughout the collection process.

The vehicle is also able to operate on some of Rossendale’s narrower and more challenging routes, helping our crews reach properties across the borough.

Here’s our collection crew in action, navigating the winding roads of Rossendale while collecting recycling and food waste.

I haven't had any more food caddy liners delivered – where can I get them from?

If you forgot to tie your last food caddy liner to the outdoor food bin to let the collection crew know that you need a new roll, simply ask a member of staff at reception at one of the locations below and they will provide you with one free roll of food caddy liners.

PLEASE KEEP HARD PLASTICS OUT OF THE BLUE BIN

Throughout the summer, we see an increase in garden and outdoor items being put in blue recycling bins.

Please remember that hard plastics cannot be recycled in the blue bin, including:

🚫 Hosepipes
🚫 Garden furniture
🚫 Children’s plastic toys
🚫 Other hard plastic items

Putting these items in the blue bin is contamination as they cannot be recycled.

PLEASE CHECK BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN.

I haven't had any more food caddy liners delivered – where can I get them from?

If you forgot to tie your last food caddy liner to your bin to let the collection crew know that you needed a new roll, a roll of food caddy liners can be collected free of charge by residents only (not commercial) from the following locations:

Thought of the evening.....

My Kryptonite!

Indulgable, delectable, recyclable! 💚

I sat watching the penalty shoot out between the kids in the garden, enjoying some Master Origin Mexican, on a long awaited cool(er) evening, smug with the thought of another bag of pods being collected in the morning and ready for recyling, coffee grounds aswell as aluminium!

With 12g of coffee grounds and 2g of aluminium recycled from each pod and at 100 pods per bag (that's just us), it soon adds up!

Aluminium is infinitely recyclable and coffee grounds can be converted in to bio fuel and fertiliser, and also be put in your food caddy (minus the pod please).

Unfortunately, we're unable to recycle these little pods within our blue bin, so
It could be all to tempting to throw a pod or two to landfill, but when you put it into perspective........ 🌳 ☕ 🌍

Beginning of the week for us tomorrow, so why not give your friendly collection crew a wave if you see them! 💙 🩶 💚

🌞🚨Bin collections will be starting earlier on Friday (tomorrow) because of the heatwave🌞🚨

Please put your bin out the night before, as crews will begin collections from 5:45am to avoid the main heat of the day.

With each bin crew emptying around 2,000 wheelie bins/caddies a day, it's tough, physical work - even more so in heat wave. Starting earlier when it's cooler will help them get the job done.

The earlier starts will apply during any future periods of hot weather throughout the summer and information be posted on social media and the Council webpage.

Please let your friends and neighbours know to put their bins out tonight before and thanks for helping keep our crews safe👏
