Dragon Monkey

Dragon Monkey Lets take some time to get together, and get out and about.

Dragon Monkey is a charitable project set up to encourage social interaction between the generations; and in particular, to engage senior citizens in the life of their community and getting everyone out and enjoy the local wildlife and countryside. The dragon monkey project received start up funds from NESTA (National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts) in 2010, to help develop physical

and creative activities which would help to reduce social isolation in the over 70s. Through the Dragon Monkey, we are putting in place a variety of activities and things to do, from Nature Trail Quests to photographic competitions and 'memory lane' treats. The project is run by a small but growing group of willing volunteers, Margaret Boyd – Stronaba, Jackie Wright - Muirshearlich, Linda Campbell – Camaghael, Jessie Gourlay – Caol and many others.

We took part in the raffle by donating a Lydia Robertson replica of a Dragon Monkey; the lady who won our prize was very happy and is now looking forward to taking a walk around our nature trail at the Dragon's Tooth Golf Course - she hopes to spot a real Dragon Monkey!

We've just created 2 new 'trails/walks' for you to do - the first one starts off at Cafe Beag, Glen Nevis the other at Sugar and Spice Cafe, 147 High Street - just a bit of free fun and suitable for all the family! The trail sheets are also available in the Visit Scotland office on the High Street - and please do remember to keep an eye out for the 'golf stones' which we have hidden somewhere along the trails!
