With outdoor cinema, wildlife displays, vintage buses and activities across the grounds, our Family Day events on 25th July and 1st August offer a different way to experience Balmoral Castle this summer.

Set on the picturesque North Lawn, enjoy movie screenings alongside a range of family-friendly activities, all included in the standard admission price.

🎬 On 25th July, catch Zootropolis 2 at 1:30pm, and on 1st August, enjoy Brave at 1:30pm.

🍔🍿 Both days will feature a BBQ, movie snacks, and a selection of drinks available to purchase.

Gather the family and make memories together at the Highland home of the Royal Family.

During a visit to Balmoral Castle, you will find beautifully redesigned gardens around every corner, including the Celtic Ballroom Maze.

The Ballroom Lawn has given way to an intricate maze that reflects His Majesty’s interest in geometric pattern and the symbolism of labyrinths. Integrated into the yew knot are four open squares paved with cosmic mosaics, along with four squares of box containing fanciful swirls.

Experience an outdoor cinema screening at Balmoral Castle in a truly unique setting this summer. 🎬

Choose from Mamma Mia! on 25th July or Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on 1st August, and join us on the North Lawn to enjoy a film against the backdrop of Balmoral Castle and the surrounding Highland landscape.

Bring your camping chairs, blankets and refreshments, and settle in for a memorable evening in the grounds of the Highland home of the Royal Family.

This is a separately ticketed event, with entry to the grounds from 16:00 and screenings beginning at 18:00.

Looking for a memorable day out this summer?

Experience Afternoon Tea at Balmoral, where guests are welcomed to our exclusive dining area and served on elegant bone china inspired by the Royal Family’s own table setting.

Enjoy a carefully curated menu featuring produce from Balmoral Estate and local suppliers, with savoury favourites including venison sausage rolls and truffle cream cheese sandwiches, followed by traditional sweet treats such as Victoria sponge and delicate raspberry macaroons.

As part of your visit, general admission is included, allowing you to explore the Estate’s stunning grounds and gardens, including the recently redesigned Thistle Maze, and discover the Ballroom Exhibition.

Picture yourself working with a dedicated team amidst the stunning landscapes of Royal Deeside, welcoming visitors from around the world to one of Scotland’s most iconic destinations. This varied and rewarding role offers the opportunity to work across several visitor-facing departments, helping to create exceptional experiences for every guest who visits Balmoral.

As a Visitor Enterprise Assistant, you will play a key role in creating exceptional experiences for our visitors, working flexibly across departments including the Gift Shop, Exhibitions, Gate and Restaurant. From providing a warm welcome and assisting the public, to handling transactions and maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness and safety, you will help ensure every visitor enjoys a memorable visit to the Highland home of the Royal Family.

Explore the peaceful and breathtaking gardens at Balmoral this summer, including the Sunken Garden, the Celtic Ballroom Maze, Queen Mary’s Garden and the Thistle Maze.

Working with Kirsty Wilson, who leads a team of gardeners, His Majesty has transformed 45 acres, with gardens redesigned in his distinctive style. Everything has been created according to his long-held principles of harmony with nature.

The centrepiece is the awe-inspiring yew maze representing Scotland’s national flower, the thistle. Thistles are a recurring theme at Balmoral, featuring in both the interior and exterior decoration of the castle (thistle finials surmount some turrets) and throughout the gardens, including the corner herbaceous beds surrounding the maze.

Venture into the wider reaches of the Estate with one of our rangers on a private Land Rover tour. 🚙

Travel by Land Rover through ancient Caledonian pine forests towards Lochnagar, taking in the breathtaking scenery of one of Scotland’s most remarkable landscapes. Spot local wildlife and hear fascinating stories that bring the Estate to life.

Each two-hour guided tour offers a unique opportunity to explore beyond the Castle grounds while learning about Balmoral’s history, wildlife and ongoing conservation work.

With tours limited to just six guests, availability is now very limited for July, with only three dates remaining in June. All other dates have sold out, so early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.
