Visiting Royal Deeside or passing by Balmoral over the coming weeks?

While the grounds, gardens, restaurant and exhibitions at Balmoral are currently closed to the public, our Main Gate Gift Shop and Terrace Café remain open daily from 10am until 4pm from now until the end of September.

Stop by the Terrace Café and enjoy a tasty selection of burgers, ciabattas, soup and bacon rolls, as well as a tempting choice of cakes and sweet treats.

Whether you’re exploring the local area or passing by on your travels, we’d be delighted to welcome you. Pop in, browse our wonderful selection of gifts and enjoy something delicious at the gates of Balmoral.

While the grounds, gardens, restaurant and exhibitions at Balmoral are currently closed to the public, our Main Gate Gift Shop and Terrace Café remain open daily from 10am until 4pm throughout August and September.

Whether you’re looking for a special gift or a cherished memento of your visit, our Main Gate Gift Shop offers a carefully curated collection inspired by the rich heritage and timeless elegance of Balmoral. Discover exclusive collections, pieces handmade by Scottish artisans, authentic local delicacies and much more.

Alongside the shop, our Terrace Café at the Main Gate is serving a delicious range of burgers, ciabattas, soup and bacon rolls, as well as a lovely selection of cakes and sweet treats.

Save the date, as Christmas is coming to Balmoral this November with the return of the Christmas Artisan Market, hosted by Exclusively Highlands.

From 6–8 November, discover a wonderful selection of Scottish art, craft, food and drink from talented makers and producers, set throughout the grounds and buildings surrounding the Castle.

With festive gifts, artisan produce, street food and refreshments to enjoy, it’s the perfect way to begin the Christmas season at Balmoral.

📅 6–8 November | 10am–4pm

Entry is free however car parking charges will apply.

While the grounds, gardens, restaurant and exhibitions at Balmoral are currently closed to the public, our Main Gate Gift Shop and Terrace Café are open daily from 10am until 4pm throughout August and September.

Balmoral Castle, including the grounds, gardens and exhibitions, is now closed to the public.

Thank you to everyone who visited the Castle and Estate during the 2026 summer season. We hope you enjoyed your time at Balmoral and left with lasting memories of your visit.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our second Family Day at the weekend, and to all who have visited Balmoral during our 2026 summer season.

With our summer opening drawing to a close, there is still time to experience the beauty, heritage and tranquillity of the Estate before our final opening day this Sunday 9th August.

As summer opening at Balmoral draws to a close, there is still time to experience the beauty, heritage and tranquillity of the Estate before our final opening day this Sunday 9th August.

Explore the peaceful gardens, from the Sunken Garden and Queen Mary's Garden to the Celtic Ballroom Maze and the striking Thistle Maze, each reflecting His Majesty's long-held principles of harmony with nature.

Your visit also includes the Ballroom Exhibition, featuring a special photographic display marking the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II alongside the ceremonial robe of the Order of the Thistle.

We are open daily until 9th August, from 10:00–17:00 with last recommended admission at 16:00.

Don’t worry if you didn’t manage to attend our Family Day last Saturday. We’re doing it all over again tomorrow!

Enjoy a summer day of activities across the grounds, from wildlife displays and arts and crafts to face painting and an outdoor cinema on the North Lawn.

𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁:

🎟️ Tickets are available online or on arrival

🚗 Parking is available at the Crathie main car park

🎬 ‘Brave’ screening begins at 1.30pm

🍔 BBQ, snacks and drinks will be available to purchase throughout the day
