Reopening 11th December
It was refreshing to see the Executive unanimously agree on the reopening next Friday. There hasn’t been an official statement published, but based on the Press Conference yesterday, most of those businesses required to close will be able to reopen on 11th December - We will be seeking clarity with regard to tourism businesses and travel guidance. At the moment we know that the following will come into force on 11th December:
• Cafes, restaurants, accommodation and food led pubs – there will be an 11pm curfew and social distancing for cafes and restaurants is being increased to 2m
• Weddings and funerals will have their cap of 25 people lifted - instead, a risk assessment will be carried out to determine how many people a venue can safely accommodate
• Non-essential retail
• Close-contact services
• Churches can resume more services, while
• Gyms will be able to reopen for individual training but not for classes
• Indoor sport is also unlikely to be allowed to resume
• Wet Bars are not permitted to open
• This will take us back to the position pre the 19th October and
With regard to Christmas, "Christmas bubbles" of three households will not have a limit on the number of people contained in them and those already in a support bubble with one household will still be allowed to join with two other households between 23 and 27 December.
