The British Heart Foundation Northern Ireland has opened applications for its Community Defibrillator Funding Programme, giving community organisations across Northern Ireland the opportunity to receive a free defibrillator and secure cabinet, with installation costs covered where needed.
Successful applicants will also benefit from free replacement pads and batteries for up to 10 years when they expire or are used in an emergency.
Around 1,400 people suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in Northern Ireland every year, with fewer than 1 in 10 surviving. Every minute without CPR or defibrillation reduces a personโs chance of survival by 10%, making access to these lifesaving devices vital.
The scheme is open to a wide range of organisations, including:
โ
Community groups
โ
Sports clubs
โ
Places of worship
โ
Social clubs
โ
Parish councils
โ
Community centres
โ
Social enterprises
If your organisation could benefit, or you know of a local group that should apply, you can find full details and apply here:
