Drumkeeragh

Drumkeeragh Drumkeeragh This is a page for the townland of Drumkeeragh, County Down. This townland is best known for its forest.

The only real knowledge in the wider media of this area was when a woman was murdered there in 1991, and one of the getaway vehicles from the northern bank robbery was found burnt out there in 2004. There used to be late night parties that took place during the 90's in the forest, but they eventually went away. I have since been informed that they were taking place up until last year. Another bit

of history was the discovery of a womans body in Drumkeeragh bog in 1780. She was dressed in woollen costume, and fragments of the clothing can still be seen in the National Museum of Ireland.

Could everyone email a complaint about the state of the forest to,

[email protected]

This might help get the paths clear, locals have already been working on the trails but it’s a massive task, thank you..

Be careful in the park at moment, the forest is very unsafe after the storm… Hopefully someone will take responsibility before someone gets hurt.. Ps keep your dogs on leads for obvious reasons..

Basically the forest paths and trails look impassable… Who knows if and when they will ever be cleared as nesting season starts soon… Maybe the local bikers might clear some but it seems like a big task..
