I found out about the delay in the investigation from the assigned police constable's Sargent. I went into the DWP office on the 25th of February IMS, with a letter containing a Subject Access Request for the CCTV footage. A DWP employee, Wayne, screamed at me to get out as I was banned.
I had received no notification of being banned, despite trying to tell him this Wayne called the Police.
On principal I waited in the office until 16.59 before leaving. When I was heading out of the Castle Quay (HMV end) I saw a female Sgt and a female PCSO. I asked them if they were headed for the DWP office and when they said yes I told them that it was likely a "shout" about me. During our discussion the Sgt confirmed that I was correct in that the memos from the Association of Chief Police Officers in 2010 and the replacement National Police Chiefs Council in 2020 said that filming in public places was legal, and that by section 33 of the Criminal Justice Act 1972 the DWP office was not only publicly owned but also open to the public during the normal hours of business. Hence why I had left just before 5pm.
About a week later I received two letters together from the Government Legal Department that informed me of the ban, and it being extended until October. However I had not received the first letter so how would I have known of any ban.
I have already written to the GLD informing them of the issues with the ban, including failing certain points of fundamental British law and those upheld by the ECHR. Unsurprisingly I have not heard back from them.
