🚨The Government has today confirmed that Oxfordshire's current council structure will be replaced with three new unitary authorities, bringing an end to the existing county and district council system.

While opinions will differ on the model that has been chosen, our priority is now to ensure this transition is delivered successfully and that residents remain at the heart of every decision.

Scrap green levies and ideological net zero targets to deliver cheaper energy.

Hire 10,000 more police and increase stop and search to make our streets safe.

Restore the two child benefit cap, and face-to-face PIP assessments to get Britain working.

Increase defence spending by ÂŁ50 billion, using savings made to the welfare budget to defend our country.

Scrap the 3% interest added to Plan 2 student loans and get under 16s off social media to help young people.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all residents of Cropredy, Sibfords and Wroxton for such fantastic engagement in the Cherwell District Council elections this week. Especially for the 1122 votes I received.

As an area we had a 52.55% turnout. This is an exceptional reflection of the understanding of the importance of taking part in the local electoral process and it's direct effect on your community.

I congratulate Nicola Borkmann on winning the seat at CDC. I also sincerely thank all candidates for putting themselves forward into the realm of public attention and campaigning with pride, dedication and respect in the past months.

As yet, we still don't know what will be happening in future local elections with a view to unitary authority proposals but will keep you informed. Until then we are here to keep our commitment to supporting you as best we can.
