Now we are back to school....

🚗 Drivers – Think Safety Around School Buses 🚌

Children are more at risk around a bus than when travelling on it.

Slow down and take extra care when passing a parked or stationary bus as children may unexpectedly appear from the front or back of the bus to attempt to cross the road.

With the new school term almost under way, NI Road Policing and Safety is reminding all road users to slow down and stay alert - especially near schools, crossings and residential areas.

As traffic levels rise, so does the number of children and families walking to and from school. Speeding puts lives at risk.

Drivers are urged to take extra care - watch your speed, stay focused and be ready to stop at a moment’s notice.

Parents, young people and all pedestrians - please stay aware, use crossings where available and make safe choices.

Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Craig Blaney, has officially unveiled Bangor's newest public mural, funded through The Executive Office's Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) Strategy.

Located in a prominent city-centre location, the mural carries the powerful message "Girls Just Wanna... Walk Home", highlighting the right of women and girls to feel safe in public spaces.

The artwork was created by local street artist Friz, in collaboration with the Council, North Down YMCA and the young women participating in the YMCA's Flip the Script programme, whose experiences and perspectives helped shape the final design.
