Anti-Slavery Week (12 to 18 October)
Putting the spotlight on modern slavery and human trafficking

It can happen anywhere, in any country and any town, and could be happening near you.

If you have been, or are being, exploited, please speak to the police: they are there to listen and to help you.

We’re also asking others to be mindful of the signs of human trafficking. Telltale signs will vary, but could include, for example, someone being unable to produce their passport, or having another speak on their behalf.

This is isn’t something you can ignore. If you see or hear any activity that causes you concern, please contact the police.

If someone threatens to reveal n**e photos or videos you've sent them online, this is called sextortion (online blackmail).

They might try to get you to send them money or force you to do things you don't want to do.

Remain calm and follow this advice:

- Do not respond to demands.
- Do not enter into further communication with the blackmailer.
- Block the offender on all social media platforms and reset the passwords on all of your accounts.
