Today, Bangor Coastguard Rescue Team attended the Bangor Fire Station Open Day alongside our colleagues from Penmon Coastguards , North Wales Fire and Rescue Service / Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub Gogledd Cymru and North Wales Police.
It was fantastic to meet so many members of the public, answer your questions, and talk about the important work we do keeping people safe along our coastline. We also had the opportunity to showcase some of our specialist mud rescue and water rescue equipment, explaining how it's used during emergencies across North Wales.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support the event. We hope you enjoyed seeing the emergency services working together and learned a little more about staying safe around the coast. Whether you're walking the shoreline, paddleboarding, kayaking, or simply enjoying a day at the beach, a little knowledge can make all the difference.
If you're heading to the coast this summer: 🌊 Check the tide times before you go. 📱 Carry a means of calling for help. 🛟 Wear appropriate safety equipment. 🚨 In a coastal emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
Thank you to Bangor Fire Station for hosting such a brilliant community event, and to all the emergency services who helped make it a great success. We look forward to seeing you all again soon!

Getting stuck in the mud can be dangerous ⚠️

There is a risk of sinking deeper, and rising tides can make the situation life-threatening if you’re unable to get free.

If you’re visiting the coast, always check local safety signs for soft sand, mud and other danger areas.

If you ever find yourself stuck in mud:

• Stay calm

• Spread your weight by sitting down or lying back

• Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

We’ve recently taken delivery of a Toyota Proace Verso Electric, which will serve as our backup response vehicle.

Its extra space will help us transport team members and rescue equipment to incidents, training exercises and community events.

Being fully electric, it also produces no exhaust emissions while driving and supports the move towards a more efficient and sustainable Coastguard fleet.

A useful addition to the team and ready to assist when required.

With warmer weather expected across Wales during the summer months, it is vital that residents understand how to keep themselves and their loved ones safe during heatwaves.

Gyda thywydd cynhesach yn cael ei ragweld ledled Cymru yn ystod misoedd yr haf, mae’n hanfodol bod trigolion yn deall sut i gadw eu hunain a’u hanwyliaid yn ddiogel yn ystod tonnau gwres.

🚨 May Round-Up 🚨

May has been an exceptionally busy month for Bangor Coastguard Rescue Team, with our volunteers responding to 27 callouts across the month.

From assisting people in difficulty along the coastline to supporting our emergency service partners, our team has been on hand day and night to help keep people safe.

As we head into the busier summer season, we’d like to remind everyone planning a visit to the coast to stay safe:

🌊 Check the weather forecast and tide times before setting out.
📱 Carry a fully charged mobile phone and let someone know your plans.
🥾 Wear suitable clothing and footwear for the conditions.
⚠️ Stay well back from cliff edges and be aware of unstable ground.
🏊 Never underestimate the sea.
📞 In a coastal emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Thank you to our volunteers, partner agencies and the public for your continued support.

A busy week for the team with 9 callouts attended across our coastline.

One of those shouts saw assisting a broken-down vessel on the Menai Strait, working alongside partner agencies to help bring everyone safely ashore.

If you are in danger or see someone in trouble at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
