🌡Extreme heat warnings🌡

Temperatures are expected to rise significantly this week!

Hot weather can affect anyone, but older people, young children, pregnant women and those with long-term health conditions are particularly at risk.

To stay safe:

☀️ Keep out of the sun during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm)

💧 Drink plenty of water and avoid becoming dehydrated

🏠 Keep your home as cool as possible by closing curtains and blinds

👒 Wear loose, light-coloured clothing and a hat when outdoors

👵 Check on older relatives, neighbours and vulnerable friends

🚑 Seek medical advice if you or someone else becomes unwell due to the heat

Please take care of yourself and others during this period of hot weather.

☀️ Keeping well during a heatwave ☀️

With temperatures expected to rise this week, it's important to take extra care, especially for older adults and anyone who may be vulnerable.

Hot weather can be challenging for many people.

A friendly visit, help with shopping, preparing cold drinks and meals, or simply checking in can make a real difference.

Here are some simple ways to stay safe during the heatwave:

💧 Drink plenty of water and avoid too much alcohol or caffeine.

👒 Wear light clothing and keep out of the sun during the hottest part of the day.

🏠 Keep your home as cool as possible by closing curtains and opening windows when it's cooler outside.

🐌 Take things slowly and avoid strenuous activity.

☎️ Keep in touch with family, friends and neighbours, especially older relatives and those living alone.

🚨 Watch out for signs of heat exhaustion and seek advice from NHS 111 if needed.

There's so many reasons why today can be tough, many more than just what we’ve listed, and we want you to know that if you’re carrying any type of heavy feelings or ache today, you’re absolutely not alone, there are so many others who are feeling the weight of this day in their own ways. We’re always here for you if you need to talk on 116 123.

💛 Self-employed doesn't mean being alone.

One thing we don't talk about enough is the loneliness that can come with working independently.

When you leave a care company, you often leave behind colleagues, team meetings and the daily chatter that comes with working as part of a team.

The freedom is wonderful.

But freedom can sometimes feel a little lonely too.

It's one of the reasons I started the Professional Carers Network.

Not because independent care workers need managing.

But because everyone needs people who understand their world.

People to celebrate wins with.
People to ask questions of.
People who just "get it."

You can be independent without being isolated.

And if there's one thing I've learnt, it's that care is always better when we support each other too.

Self-employed doesn't mean alone. 💛

“Thank you Deb, you’re my rock.”

Comments like this remind me why I started There4You homehelp.

Supporting people isn't just about practical help around the home – it's about being a friendly face, a listening ear, and providing reassurance and companionship when it's needed most.

Knowing that I can make a positive difference in someone's life and help them feel supported, valued and less alone is truly rewarding.

✨ Compassionate support
✨ Companionship and friendship
✨ Peace of mind for families
✨ Helping people stay independent in their own homes

Because sometimes, knowing someone is there for you can make all the difference.

💜 Giving Loneliness a Voice | Loneliness Awareness Week 2026 💜

For many older adults, loneliness and social isolation can quietly become part of everyday life.

💔 Did you know?

✨️ Around half a million older people in the UK go five or six days a week without seeing or speaking to anyone at all.

✨ ️Nearly 4 million older people say that television is their main source of company.

✨️ The number of people aged over 50 experiencing loneliness is expected to rise to 2 million, a 49% increase over the last decade.

Behind these figures are real people – widows and widowers, those living with dementia, individuals with limited mobility, and older adults whose families live far away.

At There4You homehelp, I believe that companionship is just as important as practical support.

I can help by providing:

🤍 Friendly companionship and meaningful conversation

🤍 Support with hobbies and favourite activities

🤍 Trips out to appointments, cafés or community groups

🤍 Dementia-friendly support tailored to individual routines

🤍 A reassuring presence and peace of mind for families

Sometimes, the smallest things can make the biggest difference.

☕ A cup of tea.
🚶 A gentle walk.
📖 Sharing memories and stories.
💜 Simply having someone who listens and cares.

This Loneliness Awareness Week (15–21 June), let's remember that no one should feel invisible or face loneliness alone.

If you know an older loved one who would benefit from companionship and personalised support, I'd be happy to help.
