💙🏊‍♂️ WE’RE LOOKING FOR NEW SWIM TEACHERS – COULD YOU BE PART OF THE DCY FAMILY? 🏊‍♀️💙

We’ve recently had a few parents asking about becoming swimming teachers, so we thought we’d put a little post out to see if anyone else might be interested!

The exciting part? You don’t need to already be a qualified swimming teacher! 🙌

We’re happy to support the right people through their swimming teaching qualification, giving them the opportunity to join our fantastic team here at DCY Swim School.

And don’t worry, you don’t need to be an Olympic swimmer to teach swimming! 😂🏊‍♂️

What matters most to us is finding the right people. We’re looking for individuals who are:

💙 Friendly, enthusiastic and reliable

💙 Great with children and passionate about helping them learn

💙 Willing to learn, develop and work as part of a team

💙 Genuinely interested in becoming a swimming teacher

We have a variety of opportunities available, including daytime, evening and weekend sessions. Whether you’re looking for regular hours or would prefer to help with cover when needed, we’d love to hear from you. There’s no requirement to commit to fixed weekly shifts.

A little more about the qualification: 📚

For successful applicants who we support through their training, there would be an agreed minimum number of working hours to complete before the qualification is released. You would also need to be able to make time to attend and complete the training and assessments.

We’ll explain all of this properly to anyone interested, so everyone knows what’s involved from the beginning.

We’re a small, family-run swim school, and having that friendly, family feel is something we’re really proud of. We love the idea of bringing people into our team who are already part of our DCY community and know what we’re all about!

We’re not necessarily looking for the most experienced people. We’re looking for the right people with the right attitude, who we can support and help grow into fantastic teachers.

Finally, we’d once again like to thank all our wonderful parents and families for the kindness, patience and support you’ve shown us during what has been a particularly difficult time personally. It really does mean more than you know. 💙

From a lovely message, a heartfelt chat in person, a hug from someone I barely know, the most thoughtful donations and all the support you have given me… thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

I might look healthy on the outside, and right now I feel healthy too, but I know what lies ahead is going to be tough. As the 9th of November approaches, I take comfort in knowing that I have so much love and support behind me.

Whatever happens, I will carry your kindness with me throughout this journey. You have all reminded me that there is still so much goodness in the world, and one day, I hope I can return even a little of the kindness you have shown me.”

Our new swimming instructor, Charlie, who you’ll have seen around the pool, is now offering 1-to-1 swimming lessons on Saturday afternoons! 🏊‍♀️

Who’s up for a little Halloween fun at DCY? 🎃👻

We’re thinking about hosting a small, ticketed Halloween party with pool games, some fun out of the water and cakes and treats!

Before we get planning, we’d love to know who would be interested and which date would suit your family best 🩵

🎃 Halloween afternoon — Saturday 31st October, around 3–5pm, leaving time for trick-or-treating afterwards!

OR

👻 Another date towards the end of October.

Let us know your preferred option in the comments and how many children you’d be interested in booking for. If you’d prefer another date, tell us which one!

Spaces would be limited, with full details and ticket prices shared once we’ve confirmed the plans.

😔 Update – Tonight’s Swimming Lessons

We are so sorry, but unfortunately we have had to cancel tonight’s lessons as we haven’t been able to find a cover teacher.

Bryony is currently undergoing egg-freezing treatment ahead of her upcoming operation, during which her ovaries will also be removed. She’s unfortunately having a little blip with the treatment, and we’re awaiting a call from the hospital to find out whether she needs to be seen to but it is in Sheffield.

We are so, so sorry for the short notice but this has just happened only an hour ago! We feel absolutely awful having to cancel and would never do so unless we had no other option.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support during what is a really difficult time for us. ❤️
