There has been an ongoing issue of trespass in Orchard Wood, Silkstone Common from 'BMX' causing damage to the pathways but more worryingly creating a hazard for users of the woodland. Some of the jumps, ramps and excavations have been significant and well constructed The Parish Council as owner of the land on behalf of residents took action by removing these physical hazards and will be organising a group of volunteers to fill in the earthworks and bring the woodland back to its natural state. As a temporary measure the gate on Moorend Lane was secured to limit access; however, following comments from residents who use and enjoy the woods the gate will be unsecured as soon as possible - we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to residents as a result of the selfish actions of others.
