Our Barnsley Shared Lives team joined colleagues from across South Yorkshire today to share Ryan's story and highlight the difference Shared Lives can make.

Ryan's story showed how the right support can help people build confidence, learn new skills and be part of their community.

Councillor Stan Bryan, Barnsley Council's Cabinet Spokesperson for Adult Social Care and Integrated Health, attended to support the team and the fantastic work they do.

Since starring in the video, Ryan has now gone onto visiting the gym, indepently cooking and he has also expressed an interest in becoming a Shared Lives Ambassador.

People across Barnsley who have been bereaved by su***de are being invited to attend a special Gathering of Remembrance this September, offering a safe and supportive space to remember loved ones, share memories and connect with others who understand their loss.

Good morning, Barnsley.

A business idea inspired by skateboarding, coffee and community is becoming a reality thanks to support from Barnsley Council's Supported Employment service.

The service helped turn an initial idea into plans for Skate & Bake by providing tailored support, specialist advice and guidance on the journey to self-employment.
