Barnsley Council North Area Team We work with the electoral wards of Athersley and New Lodge, Darton East, Darton West and Old Town to assist communities on behalf of Barnsley Council.

Supporting residents, community groups and Councillors, working together to improve our communities and the quality of life for people who live here. We work with the communities of Darton, Mapplewell, Staincross, Woolley Colliery, Kexborough, Barugh, Barugh Green, Redbrook, Gawber, Wilthorpe, Smithies, Pogmoor, Honeywell, Old Town, New Lodge, Athersley North, and Athersley South. The team is made

Today, the Caretaker Team have been doing some maintenance work at the 4T's site in Old Town Ward. The area focused on was the pathway which runs towards Stocks Lane, as well as the grassed area adjacent to that pathway 🤝🏻

Barnsley CVS and Barnsley Council are looking forward to welcoming LGBTQIA+ community members (16+) to the fifth LGBTQIA+ Collective Voice meeting, taking place on Monday 15 June 2026.

This ongoing work brings people together to share experiences, raise priorities, and help shape a stronger, more connected future for our local LGBTQIA+ communities.

Today, the Caretaker Team have been working in Athersley and New Lodge Ward on a day of action in conjunction with the Love Where You Live Action Team and other partners.

The team removed 880kg of waste from the streets! We think you'll agree, the area will look much better 🤝🏻

Incidentally, the Love Where You Live Action Team have a stall at the Community Centre on Thursday, they will be there from 11:30am. Come and speak to the team!
