⚠️ Cliff Safety at Hele Bay, Ilfracombe ⚠️
We are aware of recent cliff falls at Hele Bay. Signage is in place to warn of the risks, and we kindly ask beach users not to enter the area beneath the falls.
Cliff erosion is a natural process, and the cliffs here remain unstable. For your safety, please take extra care when visiting the beach and always stay clear of the cliff base.

We’re proud of how much our communities already recycle – thank you for doing your bit to keep our streets clean and our environment cared for.

By closing your bins properly, you’re helping keep our crews safe. If the lids are left up in the air, they can jam or get ripped off on the bin lift. It also stops small animals or vermin getting into the bins and ending up in the back of the lorry. By keeping extra bags off the street, you’re looking after your neighbours – no split bags encouraging seagulls, no rubbish blowing down the road, and no blocked drains. And by reducing the amount of rubbish you put out, you’re helping our home flourish!

Recycling as much as possible, and using your bins responsibly, means less waste on our streets and a cleaner, greener place for us all. Thanks for doing your part!

Waste crime costs the English economy an estimated £1 billion every year – yet only around 27% of incidents are reported.

That means serious, large scale and hazardous waste crimes can go unchallenged, simply because they’re not reported.

Working with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Environment Agency we’re raising awareness of the true impact of waste crime. It is not a nuisance. It is a crime.

If you’ve seen large scale or repeated illegal waste dumping, you can speak up to Crimestoppers, 100% anonymously, via our website or by calling 0800 555 111.

🚨 Community Emergency Hubs are community-run spaces where local people can come together to support one another and take swift, safe and effective action in those crucial early moments before emergency services arrive.

Devon Communities Together is providing a FREE Community Emergency Hub kit to 100 communities across the county (first come first served). To be eligible for a kit you need to do three things:
1️⃣ Interested community members should attend an online workshop (link below)
2️⃣ A suitable location within the community must be agreed and identified
3️⃣ The community should be notified about the hub

Join one of the FREE sessions in June to find out more about Community Emergency Hubs, and you will be one step closer to creating a more resilient and prepared community 💚
