Seven Brethren long stay car park will be closed from 6pm on Sunday 6 September until 11:59pm on Monday 21 September in preparation for Barnstaple Fair.

Permit holders are able to park at Fair View, Hardaway Head and Belle Meadow throughout this period.

Our Community Councillor Grants (CCG) scheme is now open for applications.

Each North Devon councillor has £1,000 to support local projects and groups throughout the year. Funding is available for charities, voluntary and community groups, and not-for-profit organisations delivering projects that benefit local people or support the local environment.

🚫 To the few who leave bagged dog poo behind

Some dog owners bag their dog’s waste and leave it on a tree, fence, or in a hedge, planning to pick it up later…

Unfortunately, quite often it’s forgotten and left behind.

⚠️ As soon as a bagged poo is put down, it is legally classed as littering. Leaving it behind creates a health hazard, is unpleasant for others, and makes our outdoor spaces less enjoyable!

✅ Carry your dog waste until you reach a bin, any public litter bin will do, not just a dog waste bin.

Your cooperation helps keep North Devon clean and safe for everyone.

The Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) has replaced both the Household Support Fund (HSF) and Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs).

Housing Payments under the CRF remain largely the same as they were under the DHP scheme. They are available to people who receive Housing Benefit or the housing element of Universal Credit and need extra help towards their rent.

UPDATE: Great news, Daisy and Ellie are now home! Thank you for your shares!

🐾 Missing dogs – please keep an eye out🐾

We're appealing for help to locate two dogs missing from Bartridge Farm, Umberleigh (EX37 9AS).

Ellie is a black Patterdale Terrier with no collar. She was last seen on the farm on 28 August 2026.

Daisy is a Border Terrier (without puppies) wearing a red collar. She went missing from the farm at around 7.30am today (3 September).

The owner has advised that this is very unusual behaviour, as both dogs normally stay close to the farm.

If you have seen either dog or have any information that could help, please contact the owner on 07920 792166.

Have your say on dog control rules in North Devon 🐶

We’re inviting residents to share their views as part of our public consultation on the renewal of the Dogs Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).

The consultation is open and runs until 30 September 2026. It’s your chance to help shape how dog control measures are managed across the district.

The PSPO helps tackle issues such as dog fouling and dogs out of control, while keeping public spaces safe, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone.
